Does anyone on the list have access to or could point me towards the location of the following marriage record: Franz Hengelbrock (various spellings Henkelbrok, Hinglebrock, etc) and Mary Angelica Maier (Meyer, etc) between 1842 and 1845 probably in Cincinnati, possibly in Newport KY. 3. A step grandfather of mine had it. I just called my father (age 89) to verify what I thought I remembered and he said: 'Now it's known as congestive heart failure. Now they put one on Lasix (sp?) to remove water from the body where years ago they TAPPED THE STOMACH to remove excess fluid'. Anotherwards: It's excess fluid in the body from a bad heart. ... I remember my step grandfather had a tube in that drained fluid from his stomach area and at times it was a mess in the bed. .... 3. Even posting the index online would have copyright issues & as such would require the permission of the author, unless the book wasn't indexed in the first place which in this case I can't imagine that it's not. We do have unlimited webspace for Hamilton Co OHGenWeb via our rootsweb account, so space would not be an issue. But, to be honest, I have no idea how the Gen. Soc. might even react to such a suggestion. The Gen. Society's recent newsletter mentioned something about the possibility of putting transcriptions on their website which would only be available to members of the Society. Kenny Burke, the president, was seeking volunteers. I considered contacting him to volunteer, but in all honesty have hesitated because of time. I still have a whole lot more I'd like to get on the Hamilton Co OHGenWeb site & have several things here that people have sent which I'm trying to get to. Seems some days just don't have enough hours :-) But, perhaps I should contact Kenny anyway & see what he has in mind & go from there? DROPSY Edema (swelling), often caused by kidney or heart disease _http://www.rootsweb.com/~njmorris/disease.htm_ (http://www.rootsweb.com/~njmorris/disease.htm) This should answer your question. 3. Gayle & all, The book is copyrighted & cannot be put online without the author's permission. This book is one of the Hamilton Co. Genealogy Society's more recent publications & I would doubt they would even consider giving permission as it would hinder the sale of the book (who would buy if it was all online?). I'm uncertain how they feel about simple look-ups as these can often lead to someone deciding to purchase the book or on the other hand let someone know that there isn't enough information of interest in the book to want to purchase it. Also, even tho I now live in Montana, I grew up in Cincinnati and members of my family to this day still call University Hospital, "Cincinnati General." Maybe our family and yours have just called it that down thru the generations? I'm relatively sure that the general hospital that was used for downtown Cincinnati would not have been way out on Bethesda Way back in the 1800s when people had to travel by foot and wagon/horse. In fact, my Mom's uncle (born c.1900 as i recall) was stabbed in a bar downtown and he walked to "the downtown hospital," which was called Cincinnati General, where he was turned away because of lack of insurance and money - so you see, being turned away is not something that just started happening a few years ago!
