    2. Glad to see that reminder. I intended to mention this when I received my latest publication from the Hamilton County Chapter. Had the opportunity to attend Tony Burroughs' lecture here in Florida a few years back and highly recommend him. His presentation will help in anyone's research. He has some great ideas and a lot of personal experience. I hope as many attend as possible -- wish I were a little closer myself! Ann Bergelt **************Start the year off right. 2. Colin, Just wanted to let you know that you weren't using too much data in the search, from what I saw he isn't listed on the FHC index. However I don't think that the certificates are completely indexed or it could have been one of those that couldnt be read. After checking out the index and sorting as much as I could, something came to mind. When I am getting the certs from the library from microfilm, they are by year and county them in numerical order. So I went back to ancestry and found someone that died on the same day then went to the FHC Site and did a search and found a number that was close, then "scrolled" to the correct number and there it was. It took me a few tries but it was worth the effort. :) Good luck in your search! Teri [email protected]_ (mailto:[email protected]) **************Start the year off right. 3. Hello Everyone, I just wanted to give a quick update to let everyone know that a fellow list reader was able to track down Matthew Donnelly's death certificate. Perhaps I was using too exact criteria while performing the search. Thanks again to all! 3. Hi Colin, You probably are already aware of this, but (in case you are not) the Ohio Historical Society has an on-line death index for 1913-1944 at http://www.ohiohistory.org/dindex/ They show the following: DONNELLY, Matthew F. Death date: 6/4/1913, Hamilton County Volume #1100, Certificate #34007 Maybe with the volume and certificate numbers you can try locating it again. If you can't find it any other way, you can purchase a copy of the certificate from the society for $7.00 (sadly for us all it used to be a lot cheaper, but at least the money goes to a good organization that puts the funds to good use). I hope this helps. Juliann Date: Fri, 18 Jan 2008 21:47:36 -0500 From: Colin Roth <[email protected]> Subject: Re: [OHHAMILT] LDS Family Search Pilot? To: <[email protected]> Hello Everyone, I did notice while using the FamilySearch Labs web site to look up the Ohio Deaths database, that I am experiencing difficulty tracking down one specific death certificate record that I know exists. At ancestry.com's Ohio Death database there is a record for a certain Matthew F. Donnelly who died on June 4, 1913 in Hamilton County. For some very strange reason, I can't seem to track down Matthew F. Donnelly's death certificate record on the FamilySearch Lab's web site. I am just curious to know if anyone else who has access to the FamilySearch Lab's web site can perform a quick lookup and see if they can spot this record? 3. Colin: I have 4 out of about 800 death certificates that I cannot find on the web site that I know exist (1/2% isn't bad). I attribute this to the fact that the web site is still in beta testing. 2. Thanks Marilyn for your suggestion but I was looking for deaths in the 1890's. I have written to the HGCS as I think they might be doing the indexing. I'll let you all know. Sandi I googled Weil Funeral Home and came up with this page: _http://www.weilfuneralhome.com/obituaries.asp_ (http://www.weilfuneralhome.com/obituaries.asp) I don't know if this is what you're looking for and I didn't test it to see how far they go back. 3. Penny, I haven't been having any problem getting the Ohio death certificates from this website. After I do the search, I choose a likely record and click on the name. When the transcription comes up, I click on "view original image". On the next page I use the "image zoom" feature at the top right to make sure it is the one I want, then click on "save" at the top center. This saves it to my computer for printing later, after I have saved all the others I find.
