The closest result at ancestry was Kandelmeyer or Kundelmeyer. If it was a legitimate surname, it surely would have shown up somewhere -- even at a German web site. I'm inclined to think it's either a typo, was mis-transcribed, misspelled or written phonetically. Just my thoughts, Marilyn **************It's Tax Time! 2. Sorry; I should have mentioned in my query about that Kandeldad surname that these folks did live in Cincinnati. Ann **************It's Tax Time! Get tips, forms, and advice on AOL Money & Finance. (http://money.aol.com/tax?NCID=aolprf00030000000001)

Mary Hess -----Original Message----- From: [email protected] To: [email protected] Sent: Tue, 11 Mar 2008 1:27 pm Subject: [OHHAMILT] A German surname? Greetings, All; This year in Salt Lake City, I found the marriage record in 1902 for August MEYER to Mary SIEVE. This is definitely the couple I was looking for. Have never seen the names of his parents before and on this record, they were listed as August MEYER and Dora KANDELDAD, both born in Germany. Would like some input on that surname -- "Kandeldad". I've done a lot of German research and it does not look right to me at all. It is written very clearly, so is either some kind of transcription error, or the writer simply did not hear it correctly. I have occasionally run across names similar to "Kandel", but that "dad" on the end totally throws me. Anyone have any ideas? I have searched references in Germany and in the US. I do not know whether August (Jr.)' s parents ever came to the US or not, but he immigrated about 1880-1882. One US census gave his birthplace in Germany as "Nurenburg". Thanks for your input. 1. Re: [OHHAMILT] Old Schools in Hamilton Co.
    2. Greetings; I cut and pasted the address and saw the website. Great -- if you are interested in looking at the photos of old schools - but not many in Cincinnati are there. I attended Riverside School for elementary grades. It was located at Leland and Baurichter Streets, or close to that. It was a gorgeous old building, built in the 1880's, I believe. It was destroyed many years ago -- possibly the 1960's. Other than the background for some outdoor class pictures, I have no photograph of it. Surely, some must exist. Always interested in such historic information and websites. Best wishes, Ann **************It's Tax Time! Get tips, forms, and advice on AOL Money & Finance. 3. That's amazing. When I got a copy of my own email it showed up correctly. I'm noticing a lot of other things getting messed up, though, on other programs and on the internet. Maybe it's all related :-) Martha ----- Original Message ----- From: <[email protected]> > No, it was messed up on everybody's email because my copy/paste feature > didn't pick it all up. > However, the email you posted with the typed extension added onto the blue > link, didn't come through in my email at all. However, the email you posted with the typed extension added onto the blue link, didn't come through in my email at all. It's probably an AOL related problem. The link and extension only shows up in the list's archives for me, so I reposted the complete URL again in plain text. Depending on your email program it probably won't come through as a link.
