Hello, I have two funeral cards for a Florence Eichhorn, nee Louis. On the back of the cards it states that she was born on October 19, 1873 and died May 21, 1943. I also have her death certificate that states her husband was John T. Eichhorn, and her parents were Benedict Louis and Wilhelmenia Wettendorf. I am not related to this family and if any one on this list is a family member and would like the items, please let me no off list, as not to clog your list up, and I will gladly mail them to you. Regards, Edie Suttle, [email protected]
I am searching for information on these children (and their descendents) of Elizabeth and Martin Greilich of Cincinnati. I have information on their other children but these have eluded me. Linda, I wish I lived in/near Hamilton County so that I could provide some assistance. Also, I wish I knew someone who could take a photo of Bailey Harrell's (and other family members') gravesite in Berea Cemetery, Miami Township. I'll watch your new site, but I'll probably have to wait for that "someday" when I can do it myself--I'll, then, upload the photos to Find-A-Grave (I've already uploaded ca 48 photos of gravesites, indluding those for Eliza Harrell Arter, Bailey's daughter, and Moses Harrell, one of Bailey's younger brothers--i.e.m 20 years younger!). As coordinator of the Hamilton Co., OHGenWeb site, often I receive e-mail from individuals seeking someone local who is willing to obtain copies of documents, take pictures at a cemetery or do research locally for them. I know in my own research how difficult it is to find someone who can assist me in obtaining records in counties or states I may never have the opportunity to visit & explore myself or I may not have an exact reference to write to the local courthouse, recorders office, etc. We've always had a page listing volunteers willing to do Look-ups in resources they own, but not a place to list individuals who might be willing to copy an obituary at the library, obtain a copy of a marriage record from Probate, a specific deed at the Recorder's office, take pictures at a cemetery, just to mention a few. The Hamilton Co. Genealogical Society website does have a page for Research Services which includes not only what research they will do and the cost, and also a listing of "Paid Researchers". I realize there may also be individuals who are willing to assist someone by obtaining copies at the courthouse, library etc. or taking pictures, whether if be for "free", "expense" incurred, or even a specific "fee", not just those who consider themselves Professional Researchers. Perhaps someone who frequents the library or courthouse or lives near a cemetery. With this in mind, I set up a new section of the website hoping to list those individuals whom others can contact for assistance. My only problem is, I don't have anyone to list. If there is anyone interested, please contact me offlist [email protected] You can find the new page I set up here: http://www.rootsweb.ancestry.com/~ohhamilt/researchers.html Of course, it's under construction & subject to change as needed! Suggestions welcome as well :-) Thanks, Linda Boorom Hamilton Co. OHGenWeb http://www.rootsweb.ancestry.com/~ohhamilt/mnpg.html

Which one of the families are you connected to? Why do you think they are connected? I did go and look in 1880 and there are several families with variations of the name. I seems by 1900 most of them are spelling it "WIETHORN". In 1880 there are the names: WEITHORN, WITHORN, WIEDHORN, WHIETHORN, WITTHORN. Oh and somewhere I also found a VITHOM. Margaret

Tom; You may find relatives in that civil registration record, just as you mentioned. But also -- there may be other possibilities in the LDS films, etc. Sometimes, civil registration was replaced by church records. Even if there are none otherwise which show for Gesmold, you might want to see if any of the nearby villages do have church records that have been microfilmed. In German research, I have run into a couple of similar situations that seemed to be dead ends, but since I was actually in Salt Lake City, I was able to talk to their German helpers who do the translations, etc. and on more than one occasion have found the records were actually kept in nearby towns, parishes, and so forth. People did not always have a church available, or did not want to attend that one, and went elsewhere if they could - depended on transportation. Get a good map of the area showing Gesmold and see if the Family History Library catalog shows resources for those villages. Best wishes, Ann Bergelt **************It's Tax Time! I followed the recent exchanges on the German village of Alfhausen and was once again shown the value of this list. I have been working on the German side of our family for more than 10 years. A belief, but undocumented, has been that my gggrandfather came from the Alsace Lorraine area but with no town or village specified. I accepted that information but with great reservation because of marriage & births subsequently taking place in a distant area from Alsace Lorraine. Then through the wonderful resource available to us (Cincinnati Public Library) I found a 1900 German language obituary published in the Cincinnati Volksfreund in which it is stated that he, Jacob Sack, is a "native of Gesmold, Hannover". I have a FHC microfilm on order which covers the Civil Registration for Gesmold for the years 1808-1812. Unfortunately, my gggrandfather's birth date is 1814. But, I may pick up some family tracks from the film. I have seen that a number of German immigrants from this village and area settled in Cincinnati. If any of you have traveled this road that I'm about to go on and have a suggestion or clue for me, I will welcome it openly. Thanks for having the patience to read through this and for your response. Tom Murray
Hi Carol. I just wanted to let you know that the death cert. of Rosa is online at the LDS website under the Ohio Death Records. It does list her father's name as Fred but of course that information would depend on who the informant was. The mother's name is listed as "Mary CORSO". There is also a "Frank (Francesco) PALMISANO listed in the death records...Father is Lorenzo or Lawrence PALMISANO and mother is Maria CORSO. I believe his birthdate was 1858 so I suppose he could be a brother of Vincenzo and Rosa. Also there is a Paul PALMISANO listed. It gives the father same as Frank/Francesco but mother is only listed as Mary/Maria. They were all buried in the same cemetery as Rosa. Also I think they were both Fruit Dealers. Margaret the online records of St. > Joseph New Cemetery indicate that Rosa's father was > Fred PALMISANO. > Vincenzo PALMISANO married Antonina CORSO. According > to one of my aunts they were first cousins, but I > don't know if this is true.

There are some listed there because researchers have submitted them to the web site, but if you do a random search for a surname, you'll see results listed from cemeteries all over Ohio. The 894 results are not from Vine Street Hill exclusively. As mentioned in my previous email, Vine Street Hill has taken their website down. Marilyn **************It's Tax Time! Carol and all; I did some extensive research a few years ago for a friend, connected to the GENTILE family, which came from Termini Imerese, Sicily; to the US. The dates are very similar to those you mention with regard to the Palmisano family and I would imagine they very likely worked together, etc. once they reached Cincinnati. Termini Imerese has a very good mailing list available - I think through Rootsweb like all the others. I would strongly advise you make a connection with that group. They were very helpful to me at that time. And I have found many of the names from Termini did come to Cincinnati. At times, they are closely related - mostly cousins and in-laws. Will be glad to provide any further info. Ann Bergelt Florida **************It's Tax Time! Get tips, forms and advice on AOL Money & Finance. (http://money.aol.com/tax?NCID=aolcmp00300000002850)
