As stated yesterday Mr. Addy at the time of ther accident was walking through an orchard, on his way home after being out hunting. his wife who was in the yard at the time saw her husband walking towards home, and heard the discharge of the gun, quickly looking up saw Mr. Addy falling to the ground. Calling for help she ran to the assistance of her husband, who was carried to the house and Drs. Lackey of Hopewell and Lane of Bloomfield were called. Word was also sent to relatives in this city and Alvin Leeper a brother-in-law of Mr. Addy left yesterday morning for that place. Mr. Leeper returned to the city about noon today and reported that Mr. Addy was still living but that no hopes were entertained for his recovery. Mr. Leeper said that the right eye, part of the skull and a portion of the brains of Mr. Addy had been blown out by the explosion of his gun and when he left the bedside of the injured man he was unconscious but living. >From the surroundings Mr. Leeper said it seemed that Mr. Addy had aimed at some object before the accident nad then changed his mind had placed the gun on his shoulder without first putting the hammer down and in walking through the orchard some of the branches of the trees, which were all low, had caught the hammer, discharging the gun, which was heavily loaded, and the gun burst.
