Have a question about probate court records. Am looking for birth certificates. Am guessing that my GGrandfather, John Law, and at least some of his siblings were born in Guernsey County. The 1830 census shows my GGGrandfather, William Law, as head of household. He also owned land. What I am really after is my GGGrandmother, Sarah's, maiden name. Her obit states that she came to Ohio in 1823. Am hoping one, just one, of the birth certificates would have her maiden name. Do I just write the court, with the dates of birth, some apporximate, if they have the certificates? If they have them do they send them and then bill me? The Greene County probate court follows that procedure, at least for wills. Or......... is there anyone who has access to these records who could help? Sarah A. Law - abt 1829 * John Law - 21 Oct 1831 Robert Law - Sept 1840 Margaret Law - abt 1836 William F. Law - abt 1840 Hannah E. Law - 20 June 1842 Mahala Law - about 1846 Any ideas, help, pointing in the right direction, would be greatly appreciated. :o) Nancy A Cincinnatian lost in Texas
