Aug. 14, 1901 Freeport, Harrison Co., OH For those of you that do not know where BOND is located will find that it is midway betweem Fairview , Londonderry , Antrim and Sewellsville, in the fertile valley of Skullfork Creek, which derives its name from a suposed Indian skull found in early days on the farm now owned by C. W. BOND. An old log dwelling house now standing on the same farm was the first voting place in Londonderry township. At one of the elections a fight took place between Valentine HIBBS and another man, resulting in one of the participants having a finger bitten off and culminating in a suit for damages in our court of Common Pleas. The old road over which wheat and tobacco were in early days hauled to Baltimore, is still discernable on the McCOY farm now owned by Thomas BOND Sr. The postoffice first established on this farm by Smith RIDGEWAY, probably 16 years ago. It took its name from the BOND family which is legion here. The mail was first carried gratultously by the patrons of the office to and from Londonderry. Afterward for one week by a U. S. Mail carrier from Quaker City through Fariview via Bond to Londonderry ; after this by a carrier from Bond to Londonderry three times a week ; about six years ago daily mail was established from Bond via Skullfork postoffice to Londonderry. The postoffice in Bond was abandonded last March for want of a postmaster. We fear that our expected postmaster and storekeeper will not materialize. He needs encouragement to do so. ***
