June 23, 1915 Freeport, Harrison Co., OH The police in two cities have been asked to locate MRS. WINNIE F. SILLS, 21 years old, wife of J. J. SILLS, of Byesville, who purchased a ticket for Cambridge and left Troy, N.Y., two weeks ago to join her husband. Since that time she has not been heard from. It is known that she purchased a ticket and left Troy, but further than that her husband, who anxiously awaits her coming at the little house in Byesville, knows nothing. The police in Cambridge were notified, likewise the police department of Troy, and they were advised to take the matter up with the railroad company immediately. Both the B & O and Pennsylvania companies in Cambridge have been told of the disappearance and efforts to locate the woman from this end are under way. An investigation at the Cambridge & Byesville depots did not show that any baggage had been checked by Mrs. Sills to her destination. The husband is quietly awaiting the result of the work of the police and while hoping against hope, fears that something has happened to his wife while enroute. Mr. Sills was formerly in the U. S. Navy and was married in Troy three years ago. His wife's maiden name was WINNIE DAVIS. He left the Navy Aug. 18, 1914 and after spending considerable time with his wife in Troy, came to Byesville, where he secured employment in the glass factory. Mrs. Smith had been in poor health, and it was not until she improved that they thought it best for her to come to Byesville. She notified her husband that she would leave soon, and since that expected her every day. Last Tuesday he recieved a letter from Mrs. Nellie Bailey of Troy, with whom his wife lived, asking if Mrs. Sills had reached her destination and stating that she left Troy two weeks ago Wednesday. *** Courtesy post - not related
