Hi, Betty, It would be nice if people always preceded their messages with some context, but that bit of messaging etiquette is commonly ignored. So, unless you're keeping a copy of all of the messages coming over this mailing list, you have no choice but to go out onto the World Wide Web to look at the message board post and trace the thread back. So, for example, the message you describe comes with this URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/rw/AWB.2ACE/1652.1.2.1 Usually you just click on this URL and your web browser (Internet Explorer, Netscape, etc.) will open, but sometimes you must copy and paste it into your web browser. In either case, you'll see the original post. It will be preceded by a line that says something like: In Reply to: Re: Hayes Family by: GD Wilson Clicking on the link "Re: Hayes Family" will take you to the message being replied to. In this case it is from a while back, 11 Sep 2003, so it's not surprising that you don't remember it.
