Highly Shipley is the mother of Capt. Otho M. Shipley who served Ohio during the Civil War in Co. H of the 65th Infantry Regiment, Ohio and has an impressive service record. He was married twice, the first time to a great grand aunt to me in 1867 and she died in 1871, no issue; he married a second time to a woman with the same first name and has a small child buried in Sunset View Cemetery (Presbyterian) in Londonderry, OH. He was a popular fellow with the people and his name is on Wills as a witness, estate records, as an appraiser to estates, and a few times in the local papers. I have a picture of Capt. Shipley during his service in the Civil War, his obituary, his state death certificate (his father is listed as William Shipley), his first marriage certificate, and the plate on the mausoleum door. (My only connection to him was the marriage, but since there are no children the connection ended with his first wife's death. However, I found him to be an interesting fellow ! to learn about.) Highly Shipley is buried in Bloomfield Cemetery (on Rt 83, N of New Concord, OH) in the same Mausoleum as her son, O. M. Shipley and other descendants.
