She died of cancer quite young and is buried next to her mother, Eliza Jane Carpenter in the tiny and ancient Swazey Cemetery. My maternal grandmother, Mary Iva King Decker, was one of Anna's younger sisters. Rosalee King Denbow was the youngest sister and also my favorite great aunt. Aunt Rosie as she was known to me lived in Columbus, Ohio with her husband George, had one son Edward and she lived to be 92. She was raised by her maternal grandparents, Matilda and Joseph Carpenter because her mother Eliza died just a few months after her birth. Andrew Jackson King abandoned his daughters, farmed them out to relatives all over Ohio, and then went to Kansas where he ultimately remarried. Anna Hardesty according to my mother had a very hard life and was not well treated by her husband. She was twelve years old when her mother died and I think missed her greatly thus choosing to be buried next to her. I have a couple of photos of! Anna and she was a lovely young woman. I have a lot more information if you are interested. Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list.
