Hare, of Quaker City, died Tuesday, June 3, 1902. He had been in ill health for some time past and was taken to Columbus and put in the care of eminent specialists, who upon surgical investigation discovered a cancerous condition of the liver. He very much desired to return home to see his children before death and on Tuesday accompanied by Mrs. Hare and Dr. G.W. Jones started homeward. He grew suddenly worse as they came on the train and soon after noon, when between Newark and Zanesville, he died. Mr. hare was a son, of Rev. John Hare, a pioneer M. E. preacher who resided in Summerfield, where Mr. Hare was born. His father died leaving a widow and a large family of children of which J. W. Hare was one of the youngest. He grew to manhood in and near Summerfield, where he married and soon after went into business at Spencer's Station, afterwards in Quaker City. When a boy he made his home for some years with Mr. and Mrs. G. Trott, who having no children of their own, assisted young Hare, whom they loved as their own child, to start in business. In all his dealings he was the soul of honor and held the confidence of all his customers to a remarkable degree. He was scurrilously honest and always courteous, Christian gentlemen, a member of the M.E. Church for many years. The family consists of his wife, Miss Grace, who is deputy probate clerk in the office of Hon. W. H. Gregg, John, Nellie and George, who are left to mourn the loss of a loving husband and father. Thursday 5 June 1902 Cambridge Jeffersonian Cambridge Ohio. Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list.
