To start off, my 2nd great grandmother was Sarah E. Ross, she married David Maple in Guernsey county, in 1857. It was either her or her husband that was half indian, because according to one of their sons WWI draft registration, he checked half white and half indian...we always knew we had indian in our line but didn't know where, now we know one of them was indian. Ok when she was 11 years old,(being she was born in 1839 and I saw this in the 1850 census) she lived with a Reed Tidrick or Tedrick family...thinking maybe this might be some relatives....do you have Tidrick or Tedrick families that might have married a Ross...they either died before 1850 or maybe they were sick, so they sent Sarah to live with another family member?
