MaryLu: Another very good source is the exhaustive history of Guernsey County, published in 1911. It is available through the Brigham Young Library: History of Guernsey County Ohio, 1911 Sarchet, Cyrus P. B. (Colonel) pub. B F Bowen & Co, Indianapolis at http://sc.lib.byu.edu/ I can't remember if it is searchable. But, there is an index to it, created by the Guernsey Co Chapter of the OH Gen Soc, at <gccogs@verizon.net> We used the index at the Society's library, earlier this year, and found it very helpful for locating kin from the earliest years of the county. Hope this helps, Elizabeth At 8:34 PM -0700 7/30/08, MaryLu Metz wrote: >Thank you a big bunch, Sunny. I'm looking for circa 1830 and prior. Thank you for the help Elizabeth. Yes, I have used the Sarchet book. It has a couple of my ancestors and provided a clue to look at Virginia/West Virginia for more information. If I can return the kindness to you or someone else contact me. You have my email and may pass it on. MaryLu
I have been trying to find an obit or other information on Mary Campbell Stewart, born about 1830 in PA (probably Fayette or Westmoreland County) to Robert and Jemima Campbell. She moved to Guernsey County, OH about 1840 with her mother and new step-father James Redburn. Mary married Hugh Stewart around 1847 Guernsey County, Ohio. Her brother Robert Campbell lived in Cambridge so Mary and Hugh may have as well. ANY LEADS APPRECIATED. Ancestry.com research has produced nothing. Thanks so much!
