She had been gradually declining in health for some time, but was reasonably well for one of her extreme years, so that her death is attributed to "old age" only. Catherine Secrest Dickerson was one of the thirteen children of John and Sarah Secrest, pioneer settlers who came from Virginia in the early years of the last century and settled where Hartford now stands. Nearly all of them lived beyond the biblical period of the score years and ten, but Mrs. Dickerson survived them all. She was born October 29, 1815, and was married to Asa Dickerson in 1836. To this union were born four children, as follows; George, of Derwent; Mrs. Edward Spaid, of Hartford; John who died a few years ago, and Samuel, who died infancy. At her death she leaves two children, nine grandchildren, fifteen great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandson, Byron Albert Wycoff, thus making before her death five generations in the line. Mr. Dickerson died about eighteen years ago and for while his widow lived alone, but for the past twelve years, she made her home with her son George and family in Derwent, who cared for her patiently during her declining years. Aunty Katy, as she was know to everyone, was a strong character and fine patiently during her declining years. The funeral services will be held at the M.E. Church, Hartford, tomorrow at 10 o'clock. Rev. Humble of Pleasant City will have charges of the obsequies. Burial will be made in the Hartford Cemetery.
