I am researching Jasper Dawson who is my great great Grandfather and I am trying to connect the other Dawson living in the area of Jasper in Iowa at time of his death hoping that some of his family was living around there after leaving Maryland. Jasper Dawson was born in Maryland and on one census record in Iowa mentions that his mother was born in Kentucky but did not know where his father was born. Jasper claims to have been born in Maryland in the 1830s and sometime about 1860 he pops up alone in Iowa in Iowa City and entered into the Civil War in the 2nd Iowa Cavalry.
