I'm really not surprised that you couldn't find the cemetery, I'm sure I never would have found it the first time if my Dad hadn't been with me, he grew up around there and remembered several funerals there. Even so, we didn't find it right away. I hopw this map, http://terraserver.microsoft.com/image.asp?S=14&T=2&X=138&Y=1389&Z=17&W=2, along with a description, will help you. Coming from Plainfield on 541, shortly after you cross the county line into Guernsey Co., there was an old barn that looked like it was going to fall down on the left. I think it's before you cross Wills Creek. If you get to Standing Rock Rock - the only paved turn-off before Birds Run, I believe - you've definitely gone too far. A dirt road - little better than two deep ruts - ran past the barn, into the trees, and up the hill. The road curved, so that even standing at the bottom of the hill, you could not see the top. The cemetery is in a small clearing at the top of the hill. There used to be plenty of room to park and turn your car around at the top; it would be a bit of a hike to park at the bottom and walk up, but doable if you don't want to try the road. It's very quiet and peaceful up there, a lovely spot. Several of my Phillips ancestors are buried there, along with many from collateral lines - Banker, Wilson, and Mitchell, among others. The earliest I have was 1863, the most recent 1960. The cemetery is maintained by the Wheeling Township Trustees, so you might try contacting them, or the closest funeral home, or one of the the tombstone companies in Cambridge if you still can't find the cemtery.
