B. SIGMAN'S Kin Is Killed Word has been received from the war department by relatives stating the Pfc. Elmer E. SIGMAN, a cousin of the late Lt. Blanche SIGMAN, first officer of the U. S. Army Nurse Corps to die on European soil at Anzio, Italy, was killed in action in France Nov. 23. Pfc. SIGMAN was the son of Mr. and Mrs. Elmer E. SIGMAN, Sr., of 2342 Columbia St., Alliance, and formerly of Cambridge. He has numerous cousins in Cambridge and the vicinity, his father being a brother of Joseph SIGMAN, father of Lt. Blanche SIGMAN, in East Cambridge. Pfc. SIGMAN was graduated from Atwater High School and was employed at the Transue & Williams Steel Forging Corp, in Alliance before entering service in January 1943. He received training at Ft. Leonard Wood, Mo., Ft. Crook, Neb., and Ft. George Meade, Md., going overseas in September. Surviving, in addtion to his parents and widow are, one brother, Herbert of Alliance, and four sisters, Mary and Dorothy of the home, Mrs. Howard BOWER of Limaville and Mrs. Frank MONCRIEF of Wellsville.
