Lee's brother Asbury NEEL was my gg grandfather. Their parents were William NEILL b. 1776 in Ireland (according to his children at the time of the 1880 census) and Mary Ann SHERIDINE (also spelled SHERIDAN). The date of their settlement in OH is unknown, but they were there by at least 1821 and possibly earlier. somewhere along the way, William adopted the surname spelling of NEEL. William and Mary Ann are both buried in Birmingham Cemetery, Monroe Twp, Guernsey Co. My information on Lee says he married Mary BEAL in Guernsey County 4 Apr 1839 (Book C:261). Mary's parents were William and Elizabeth BEAL. There are several other instances of NEEL/BEAL marriages that I know of. Mary was born in Guernsey Co in Oct 1820 and died 10 Feb 1866 at age 45 years, 3 mos, 19 days. She is buried in Birmingham cemetery near her parents. Lee remarried on 25 Dec 1867 to Rebecca M. (Becky) EVERETT. Lee died in New Philadelphia 13 Jan 1902. Lee and Mary had 6 children: Alexander b. 1840; William ca 1845; Elizabeth ca 1846; Mary Jane (or Mary D.?) ca 1847; John b. ?; Obed Whittaker ca 1862. I have more information.
