OH Queries Forum Board URL: http://cgi.rootsweb.com/~genbbs/genbbs.cgi/USA/Oh/Guernsey?read=967 Surname: Dennis, Ball, Hill, Valentine ------------------------- We are looking for any information on Ashford Dennis, born about 1824 in Claysville, Guernsey County, who married Mary Jane Hill or Mary Jane Ball (we are still uncertain but lean strongly towards Hill) daughter of W M Hill and Ziza Ball (names provided by older family members and not documented). Mary Jane was born about 1829 in Claysville, Guernsey County. Ashford Dennis appeared as head of household in 1850 County census and he served during the Civil War. We would appreciate any information on Union Army regiments or units formed in Guernsey or Muskingum County. Ashford had nine children, Evaline (1850), Liston (1852), Thomas(1855), Charles (1857) Harriett (1860), Lucy (1866), Joseph Austin (husband's ggfather - b. 1869), John (1872) and Amelia (1876). All were born in Claysville, Guernsey County. Joseph Austin Dennis moved to Illinois as a young man, married there, but we believe he returned to Ohio as his daughter, Ruth, (husband's gmother) married a man from Guernsey County, Clark Valentine.
