OH, married Margaret Jane Mehaffey 20 Dec. 1855, died May 1904. - Francis Hammond, born 26 Apr. 1830 in Knox Twp., married Margaret Tingle 6 Nov.1856, died 4 Oct. 1886 in Washihngton, D.C., buried in Glenwood Cemetery, Washington. - William B. Hammond, born 1 Dec. 1831 in Ohio, married (1) Margaret M. Little 18 Mar. 1858, married (2) Esther McConnaha, died 29 Jan. 1897. - Elizabeth Hammond, born 9 May 1833 in Adams Twp., married William McClelland, died 19 Oct. 1889. A William McClelland died 1861, buried in Old City Cemetery, Cambridge. - John Hammond, Jr., born 28 Feb. 1835, married Martha Guthrie 29 Mar. 1860, died 1911. - David Hammond, born 6 Jan. 1837, married Cassandra Britton 1 Dec. 1864 in Guernsey Co. Cassandra died before 1895. David & Cassandra moved to Guthrie Co., Iowa. - Robert Hammond, born 19 Sep. 1838, married Ella Simmons 15 Nov. 1870 in Guernsey Co., died 30 Sep. 1907 at his home on South 8th St., Cambridge. - Johnson Hammond, born 19 July 1840, married Susannah A. John Miller Hammond was born 16 Sep. 1805 near Hickory, Washington Co., PA, married Elizabeth Scott 29 Nov. 1827 in Guernsey Co., died 4 Apr. 1898 at the home of his son Alexander in Adams Twp., Guernsey Co. Elizabeth Scott was born 11 Aug. 1804 in Washington Co., PA, died 26 June 1883 in Adams Twp. They were both buried in Lebanon Cemetery, Cambridge. Elizabeth Scott was a daughter of Francis & Elizabeth (Hunter) Scott. Francis was born probably between 1760 and 1765 (in Ireland?), died in 1845 (in Guernsey Co, OH?). Elizabeth was born ca. 1775, died ca. 1855. They emigrated ca. 1788. Francis was "a dealer in horses buying them & driving them across the mountains for sale." I've tentatively located them in: - Yellow Creek, now Jefferson Co., OH - Holliday's Cove, near Weirton, Hancock Co., WV - West Middletown, Hopewell Twp., Washington Co., PA (bought land there in 1816) - Brooke Co., VA (1820 census) - Adams Twp., Guernsey Co., OH (1830 census) - Jefferson Co., OH (they sold above land 1835) - Cambridge Twp., Guernsey Co., OH (1840 census). Now the big question is who were their parents? I am descended from Francis & Elizabeth Scott's eldest son John. He married Mariah McCleary, daughter of Thomas & Mary (Lynn) McCleary.
