After the Civil War my grandmother and her brother's and some cousins were orphaned and went for awhile to the Belmont county Orphanage or were indentured to families that would take them, and some finished growing up at the Ohio Sailor's and Soldier's Orphanage (State) in Xenia. Other Barker's went to other areas of the state of Ohio.
