March 2001 Earl Curtis Johnson, 85, of Cambridge, died Saturday (March 24, 2001) at his home. He was born Dec. 26, 1915, in Mineral Wells, W.Va., son of the late Everett Victor and Maude L. (Sams) Johnson. Mr. Johnson was a member of First Christian Church, Cambridge. He was a life member of Kipling VFW Post 7371. He was an Ohio operating engineer for 40 years. He was a U.S. Army engineers veteran, having served in World War II. He leaves his wife, Laura Pearl Joy Johnson, whom he married Sept. 21, 1938; a son, Roger (Linda) Johnson of Columbus; three daughters, Mrs. Bob (Doris Jean) Hall of Mt. Gilead, Mrs. Ronald (Rosemary) Harding of New Concord, and Mrs. Tom (Louella) Hanes of Cambridge; four brothers, Donald (Lillian) Joy, George (Delores) Joy and Robert (Jerri) Joy all of Canton, and Franklin (Betty) Joy of Cambridge;13 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren. Friends may call from 2 to 5 p.m. Monday at Thorn-Black Funeral Home, Cambridge, where services will be 11 a.m. Tuesday with the Rev. Terry Tate officiating. Burial will be in Guernsey Memory Gardens. Military graveside services will be conducted by Guernsey County Veterans Council.
