Question marks denote illegible writing or where I tried to guess what the name was. I am having a lot of trouble finding John's parents, so perhaps he is related to one of these individuals: Joseph Hagen (2 entries) Benjamin Berry (2 entries) James? Stridisle? Hamina? Hantina? ? Hogdie Joe? Doz? Jackson Buckhannon (2 entries) Barry Gills There were also a few Neels, but I already know that they were his brothers-in-law. Please contact me if you know who any of the above individuals are. It might give me some type of lead. FYI--John McCandless was born some where in PA in 1798 and was in Harrison Co. in 1828 where he we Mary Ann Neel. From there they went to Madison Twp., Guernsey County, Ohio, where he died in 1845. The time/place tho suggest he probably was a neighbor of the Helm family. (As was Berry.) Can you scan & email me a copy of the estate papers? I've read a lot of the stuff from this period & can usually make it out. I will be traveling the next week.
