Casteel, 79, of West Lafayette, died Friday (May 25, 2001) at Riverside Manor Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, Newcomerstown. She was born Dec. 14, 1921, in Guernsey County, daughter of the late James and Hazel (Erskine) Nugen. Mrs. Casteel was a homemaker and a former employee of Thompson’s IGA and the A&P, both in Newcomerstown. She attended the Isleta United Methodist Church. She is preceded in death by a granddaughter, Kimberly Galbraith; and a brother, Robert Nugen. She leaves her husband, Virgil R. Casteel; a daughter, Mrs. Doyle (Shirley) Galbraith of Mt. Vernon; two grandsons, Jeff Galbraith and John Galbraith; two great-grandsons, Tyler Galbraith and Jordyn Galbraith; a sister, Mrs. Ernie (Shirley) Kerzi of Brooksville; a brother, William (Mary Rose) Nugen of Tallahassee, Fla. Friends may call from 2 to 4 p.m. today at Addy Funeral Home, Newcomerstown, where services will be 11 a.m. Tuesday with the Rev. Richard Rothrock officiating. Burial will be in West Lawn Cemetery, Newcomerstown.
