Oh Obituaries Reply Here: http://cgi.rootsweb.com/~genbbs/genbbs.cgi/USA/Oh/GuernseyObits/10124 Surname: STEWART, BURDEN, THORNBERRY, DOUGLASS, RINEHART, TIDRICK ------------------------- >From the Guernsey Times, April 15, 1875: STEWART - Near Winchester, Guernsey county, Ohio, William Stewart, in his 62d year; was born in Washington Co., Pa., April 8th, 1813; his parents with their family moved near Winchester in the year 1815, and he was married to Jane Burden in the year 1837, with whom he lived until his decease. United with the United Presbyterian Church at Antrim, Guernsey county, Ohio in the year 1845, and continued as a member thereof until called to the church triumphant. Being well acquainted with the deceased for over forty years: he was a kind husband an affectionate father, a man of great generosity, never turned any away empty. His disease was cancer of the face, commencing in the upper lip, then under the left ear, eating in until the jugular vein, windpipe and jaw bone could be seen, the vacuum being quite large. It was over twelve years doing its work; in all his sore affliction scarcely a murmur was heard from him. Shortly before his death in conversation with him gave good evidence of his acceptance with his Maker, told me his trust was in Jesus. He left the darkness of earth to enter within the mansions of eternal glory, where they need not the light of the sun, for the Lord God giveth them light. He leaves a wife, nine children and one sister, the only one of his father's family to mourn his loss, but their loss is his infinite gain. "Beyond the flight of time, Beyond the reign of death, There surely is some blessed clime, Where life is not a breath, Nor life's affections transient fire, Whose sparks fly upwards and expire." NOTES: (1) "Winchester" is now called Winterset. (2) William and Jane's nine children, not listed in his obituary were: John B., David McB., William M., Elizabeth (THORNBERRY), Thomas, Anne (DOUGLASS), James H., Hannah Susan (RINEHART), and Frances Lenora (TIDRICK).
