MULLEN. [Transcribed 16 Jan 2001 from Bloomfield-Eastern Greene County Public Librarys IHS Microfilm Records.] Through the courtesy of Rev. J. W. CISNEY we publish the following clipping from a Nebraska paper: John MULLEN was born in Guernsey County, Ohio, December 21, 1841, and died at his home at Hartington, April 8, 1915. He lived in Ohio until the age of twenty-one, when he moved to Greene County, Indiana. He enlisted in COMPANY E 148TH REGIMENT INDIANA INFANTRY, and was enrolled February 23, 1865. He was united in marriage to Elizabeth Caroline (COOK) DUGGER September 1, 1878, to which union was born two sons and three daughters, who survive and reside in the West. He also has five sisters surviving him. He was a member of the M. E. church, and as he was a veteran of the war the church was appropriately decorated with flags, and the choir furnished excellent music for the last sad rites. His remains were laid to rest in the cemetery at Coleridge, [Cedar County,] Nebraska. He was a resident of Beech Creek Township, this county for many years, but in 1896, he and Rev. CISNEY chartered a car, packed their household goods, and with their families, left for Nebraska to make their home. Rev. CISNEY removed back to Greene County the following year, but Mr. MULLEN never came back.
