You won't find death certificates before about 1860 (sorry, I don't recall the exact date that they began recording them). Wills should be findable in the Will Book in the Guernsey County Courthouse in Cambridge. They have an index, in which I found wills for my ancestor John Cranston, dated 1823 (posted here: <http://searches2.rootsweb.com/cgi-bin/ifetch2?/u1/textindices/O/OH-FOOTSTEPS+1999+350913211821+F>. I don't know how much earlier they go, but this particular will was found on p. 85, and at that time you get about one will per page, so there may be about 80 wills preceding this one. That may well put it back to 1810, when Guernsey County was organized.
