Hi! In your Hanna Book is there a mention of William Drake,Jr. & his wife Mary? They moved to Guernsey Co. circa 1835 from Harrison Co.,OH. They were my 3xgreat-grandparents.Their children were: Thomas(my line),Nate,George,David,Mary,Hester,John & Lewis Drake(not in birth order). Their might have been more children. My confusion came from Julia's death certificate which gives her mother's name as Mary Gray. I have since convinced myself it is wrong. (I had found a marriage of a David Adams and Mary Gray in 1830 in Ohio, and a David Adams and Sarah Morrow in 1846 in Ohio. Thought he could have been married 3 times!) Sarah died 5/20/1869 in Vermillion County, IN. She is probably buried in Thomas Cemetery, Newport, IN, but there is no stone. David died 2/9/1876 in Richland County, IL. I don't know where he his buried. He is not listed in the Richland County cemetery inscriptions book, so must not have a stone. I am fairly certain that David's parents were Jacob and Margery (Harmon) Adams. No idea about Sarah's parents. I have seen Jacob as the son of James and Isabel (Weldon) Adams, which I do not think is correct. I have also seen him as the son of John and Ann (Caudill) Adams. I don't think that is right either. To start off, my 2nd great grandmother was Sarah E. Ross, she married David Maple in Guernsey county, in 1857. It was either her or her husband that was half indian, because according to one of their sons WWI draft registration, he checked half white and half indian...we always knew we had indian in our line but didn't know where, now we know one of them was indian. Ok when she was 11 years old,(being she was born in 1839 and I saw this in the 1850 census) she lived with a Reed Tidrick or Tedrick family...thinking maybe this might be some relatives....do you have Tidrick or Tedrick families that might have married a Ross...they either died before 1850 or maybe they were sick, so they sent Sarah to live with another family member? Supposedly they lived in the Wheeling township area, maybe related to your Tidrick's? Any ideas? jamie Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list.
