Posted on: Guernsey Co. OH Queries Forum Board URL: http://cgi.rootsweb.com/~genbbs/genbbs.cgi/USA/Oh/Guernsey?read=1051 Surname: Haney, White ------------------------- I believe your Thomas Jr, son of Thomas Haney and Catharine White, is the brother of Joseph Haney, my great grandfather. The birth date for Thomas Jr matches what I have. This Haney was listed in the 1850 Guernsey County census. There were a total of 12 children, 2girls and 10 boys. The family farmed. If this sounds right, I have some info on Thomas Jr's family and the names of his siblings. Please contact me. Thomas Sr was born in 1791 possibly in Brooke Cty which is now in WV. We believe Catherine was born in Scotland. This is exciting.
Is anyone familiar with the Fletcher General Hospital in Cambridge, Ohio? Its referred to as "a 2000 bed hospital for ill and wounded military patients evacuated from Europe" on page 300 of The Day the War Ended p. 330 by Martin Gilbert. I was astonished to see the way Cambridge was part of the war effort. Did the Fletcher Hospital become the Guernsey Memorial Hospital where I was born? If not, are parts of the Fletcher Hospital still in view? Brian L. Cole Researching Coles from MD to Jeff. Co., Ohio

Christopher Swarts had two sons, would be 20 and between 25 & 30 in 1850, also two dau one would be 20 to 25 & the other 25 to 30 by 1850. In the 1850 census Christopher b. 1800 is in Cambridge with William Rawlins (35) and wife Elizabeth (32), children Sarah Elizabeth (8), Hugh B. (5) and James M. (2). I believe Elizabeth to be dau of Christopher. Would appreciate any info, and especially if someone has access to 1860 census to see what the status was. Faith Keahey@cyberhighway.net

OH Queries Forum Board URL: http://cgi.rootsweb.com/~genbbs/genbbs.cgi/USA/Oh/Guernsey?read=1047 Surname: Dawson ------------------------- I am doing family tree research on the DAWSON family (my maiden name is Dawson). I know that a THORTON DAWSON was born in Guernsey County, Ohio in March 25 of 1823. I found only two Dawsons who were head of household in that county in 1840, they were George Dawson and Thomas Dawson. Thorton was born in Maryland, his parents with the children moved from Allegheny County in Maryland to Guernsey Co. in Ohio in the year of 1839. Anyone with information about the Dawsons of Guernsey County please drop me a line at my email address johnv288@aol.com. (Thorton Dawson moved from Ohio to Keokuk County in Iowa where he died in 1898).
Friends Cemetery is also in Quaker. Most of the original Quakers are buried there in the old part. Judith

There is a tin type in this album of a young man with a note behind the picture from a Lawrence Starr. She was active in the Beaver Baptist Church and also attended special events at the Palestine Church. Her brother-in-law Ralph Hanna published a songbook of hymns at Quaker City, and I have a picture in front of Beaver Baptist the day the hymn book was 1st used. John Ogden
