OH Queries Forum Reply Here: http://cgi.rootsweb.com/~genbbs/genbbs.cgi/USA/Oh/Guernsey/1308 Surname: Clark, Chilcote ------------------------- I have seen my Jacob listed as Jacob F. Clark, but don't know what the F. stands for. Your Elizabeth was born 34-36 years later, more like a child than a sibling. I do know Jacob married Rhoda Chilcote for certain. They were married in 1823 and their oldest child, Levi, was born in 1825. Then there were 3 girls and 1 boy born from 1826-1832 and I don't know their names. After that, I have all the names from the White Co. Census of IN. Yours seem to have followed the same path from PA to near Monticello, IN. Keep in touch, Harold

I must correct my previous message about Jacob Clark from Guernsey Co, Ohio. My ancestor is his daughter, Rebecca Elizabeth Clark, born in Ohio, not Indiana. I have also found information on Jacob's wife Rhoda Chilcote (also spelled Chilcoate). This line goes all the way back to 1055 a.d. I did not do the research myself, but will gladly share the research of others.

    1. [OHGUERNS] Migration from Ireland to Cecil Co, MD to Guernsey Co, OH
    2. Kim Kerr
    3. Speaking of similarity in migration, I have: Joseph James McCRACKEN, b 3 Nov 1798 Baltimore, married Mary Ann GERRY/GEARY/GARY, b 1820 Ireland, on 20 Mar 1822 in Cecil Co, MD. As far as I know, when this family left Cecil Co, MD, they went to Ohio. The children I have info on were married in Guernsey Co or Noble Co, OH, as follows: 1. Ann Jane McCRACKEN who married Ralph KELLS in 1841 2. William Gerry McCRACKEN married Christina Jane BLACKSTONE in OH then Anna BARTON. 3. Isabella McCRACKEN married a Robert FINLEY 4. Robert James McCRACKEN married Rachel LARRICK, then Barbara MOORE 5. Sarah Elizabeth McCRACKEN married John THOMPSON then William HURD 6. Benjamin, may have died young 7. Joseph William McCracken married Sarah FINLEY Has anyone with cemetery listings run across any of these names? Thanks for any help! Kim Three Graham brothers arrived from Ireland at the end of the 1700s, or early 1800s, served with the Ohio Volunteers in the war of 1812, settled in Guernsey County in the middle to late 1820s. It appears that your GRAHAMs are closely associated with my CRANSTONs. John CRANSTON and his family arrived in the U.S. in 1802 from Ireland, and originally settled in Cecil Co., MD. In 1807 they moved to Guernsey Co., OH. John CRANSTON died in 1823. The similarity in immigration probably gave them common ground, if they didn't, in fact, travel together. _________________________________________________________________________ Get Your Private, Free E-mail from MSN Hotmail at http://www.hotmail.com. Walter GRAHAM died a few years after John CRANSTON (1760 - 1823), and was buried next to him in Fletcher's Cemetery in Oxford Twp. of Guernsey Co. So possibly Walter was the father of the clan you describe, with James the older brother as you suggest. Looking at the War of 1812 database on Ancestry.com <http://www.ancestry.com/search/rectype/inddbs/4281.htm>, I found the following: GRAHAM JAMES 1 REGIMENT (DELONG'S), OHIO MILITIA. CORPORAL CORPORAL Box 84 Roll 602 This is the same regiment in which served John CRANSTON's eldest son James (1785-1855). It says he was born 10 Mar 1794, christened 22 Jun 1796 at the age of 2 years at Christ Church and St. Peters, Philadelphia, Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. His parents are listed as Jacob Clark and Ann Clark. Hope maybe this is helpful. If you think this is your man, let me know, I am also beginning research on this line. I am a descendant of their daughter Rebecca Elizabeth Clark, born 4 Oct 1830 in Monticello, White, Indiana (I think).

    2. I am in the process of tracking my Graham kin in Ohio. Here is what I have so far: Three Graham brothers arrived from Ireland at the end of the 1700s, or early 1800s. They were William, Charles, and Christopher. There was also a James Graham who could have been their father, or an older brother. William served with the Ohio Volunteers in the war of 1812. I believe the others did as well because they all qualified for government land in Ohio. They settled in Guernsey County in the middle to late 1820s. In the mid 1830s Charles and William sold their land to Christopher and James, then moved to Allen County (now Auglaize County). Charles dropped out of sight, but William stayed, populated the county with Grahams, and lived out his life there. Christopher and James did the same in Guernsey County, James died in 1855 and Christopher in 1872. Have any of you researchers out there run into these folks? I am particularly interested in locating the missing Charles and his wife, Martha but I have a lot of blanks to fill in for the rest of the family. John Graham JohnG48@aol.com

OH Queries Forum Reply Here: http://genconnect.rootsweb.com/gc/USA/Oh/Guernsey/1300 Surname: Amos, Waller, Beckett ------------------------- I assume that you are aware of the 1982 book ÒOur Amos FamilyÓ compiled by Sara McFadden Amos and published privately by Robert W. Amos of Cambridge, Ohio. If not, the following are two excerpts I copied from it. These were about the two sons of John Major Amos and Mary Elizabeth Waller. - On page 20 was: Harry Waller Amos, son of John Major Amos and his second wife, Mary Elizabeth Waller, was born March 9, 1876, in Caldwell, Ohio, and died September 29, 1949, in Cambridge, Ohio. He is buried in the Amos lot in Northwood Cemetery in Cambridge. On June 27, 1901, Harry married Elizabeth Rose Davies, daughter of Jacob Reese and Clara (Crabbe) Davies of Newark. Elizabeth was born July 11, 1875 and died in Coshocton, Ohio on September 6, 1969. She is buried beside her husband in the Amos lot in Northwood Cemetery. - On page 30 was: Frank Belford Amos; b. Nov. 2, 1881 in Caldwell, Ohio; m. Mary Oella St. Clair in 1909, no children; d. July 18, 1965 at Anderson, Indiana. He was in sales and auto advertising located in New York City and in 1939 became president of the Jeffersonian Newspaper in Cambridge. Also an accomplished violinist. The book is in the genealogical room of the Guernsey County Library in Cambridge.

Johnson born about 1837 in Guernsey Co. He appears to have been the youngest child of Archibald Johnson and Sarah (Spencer) Johnson. He was enumerated on the 1850 and 1860 census' with Sarah A. after Archibald died and would have been born the year his father passed away. Archibald's will does not mention him so he may have been born after his father's death. Could this be the Ephram your interested in? Mike O'Shea Norfolk, VA

    2. All I am in search for any information on Christopher Graham he first appears in the 1820 Census in Monroe township. He was 18 years old. I found him buried in the Irish Ridge Church Cemetery in Monroe. The record shows that he was born in 1802 and died in 1872. He appears to have lived his entire adult life in Monroe. From the 1850 Census we know that he was born in Ireland. His wife’s name was Mary and that she was 38 and born in Pennsylvania. They show three children at home: Eliza I., 18, Sarah, 14 and Maria, 12. If this fits into anybodies family or if you have any more information please drop me a note. John Graham JohnG48@aol.com
