John Norris Rebecca Norris _eannah Norris- living in Carroll CO., O Elcy Norris " " " " Caroline Norris " " " " Elcy, Caroline Norris, John W. Is the Julian Ann Norris Reed, Davis the same Julia Ann Norris that is living in Adams Twp., Guernsey County, Ohio in 1850 and the dau of Zeba/Ziba & Juda Norris? Zeba/Ziba is buried in Carroll County, O. next to a David Norris and David's wife. Any help would be appreciated and would be happy to share what I have on this line. Hallie

Does anyone have knowledge of the William ROGERS' Family? .... or the related BARNES and HOOPMAN famiies from West Nottingham, Cecil, Maryland who moved first ot Harrison County and then to Guernsey County after 1820? William ROGERS was born Feb. 6, 1780 in West Nottingham, Cecil County, Maryland and died Dec. 31, 1847. William Rogers is buried in the Old Hoopman Cemetary (now called Ball's Grove Cemetery) at Trail Run (now called Robins, Ohio) in Jackson Township, Guernsey County, Ohio. He married Jane ROGERS who was born about 1780 in Fountain Green, HC, Maryland, married Apr. 7, 1802 at St. Georges' Parish, HC, Maryland, and died between 1817-1820 in Cadiz twp, Harrison County, Ohio. The one child of William and Jane ROGERS that I know of is Susannah. She was born Sept. 3,1804 in West Nottingham, Cecil, Maryland and died Oct. 3, 1867 in Paris Twp., Union Co., Ohio. Susannah married Levi Barnes. Levi was born in 1805 in Baltimore, Baltimore Co., Maryland. Levi and Susannah married April 10, 1823 in Harrison Co., Ohio. The family moved to Guernsey County and Levi Barnes died in the early part of 1848 in Trail Run, now know as Robins, Ohio, Jackson Twp., Guernsey, Ohio. (Maybe buried in the Old Hoopman Cemetery). The children of this marriage were: William T. (1830-1887 -- died in Merrill Grove, Shelby Co., Iowa - and married Emily Poling) Eliza E., ( b: 1833) John Wesley, (Born 1838 in Harrison Co. and died 1907 in Marysville, Union Co., Ohio -- and married Catharine Oliphant Hale 11-1856) Margaret (died after 1907) Isaac H. Barnes (Isaac and Amanda (who follows) may have been born to a HOOPMAN and ROGERS family -- maybe a sister of Susannah Barnes and in turn "adopted" by Levi and Susannah for some unknown reason. By that I mean that in the 1850 census of Gurensey County, Jackson Township, Ohio, Susan Barnes, 45 years, MD, Eliza E. 17 years, OH; William T. 20 yrs, OH; John W. 12 years, OH; Issac HOOPMAN 9 years, OH; Amanda HOOPMAN 3 years, OH.) Isaac was born Oct. 9, 1840married Almeda Dunlap Amanda Barnes (married Daniel Beighler). If anyone can see a connection to this family or has any information on the BARNES or HOOPMAN who married ROGERS I would love to hear from you.... Thanks! Posted on: Guernsey Co. OH Queries Forum Reply Here: http://cgi.rootsweb.com/~genbbs/genbbs.cgi/USA/Oh/Guernsey/1316 Surname: WATKINS, WORLEY, BUMGARDNER, FARMER, LINDER, HUNTER, SHALLCROSS, KIGGAN, HOOP ------------------------- In reference to the post of Dean Shipley, there may well be an error in the reference to the marriage of Sarah WATKINS to Amos WALTERS. Since the time that the WATKINS family listing was given to Mr. Shipley further research has created some doubt into that marriage. There are several marriages of Sarah WATKINS both in the records of both Guernsey and Belmont Counties in that time period. Alas, none of the records refer to the parentage of any of the Sarah WATKINS that were researched. It is suspected that the Sarah of this branch of the WATKINS family resided in Londonderry Township, Guernsey County, at the time of her marriage. Some of the early siblings of Sarah were born in Belmont County. The rest were born in Guernsey County. Nothing is known of the dispositions of Israel, William, Sarah,Elizabeth Jane, Julia Ann or Susannah. Any information regarding these individuals would be greatly appreciated. All of the other siblings are fairly well accounted for for several generations.

A piece of this Guernsey Co record is missing. Anyone know the story? I have been looking for information on Benjamin Helm's estate (d intestate 1837/38 in Guernsey Co). The administrative docket or minute book mentions an inventory, but ... it doesn't seem to be in the probate packets or in the courthouse records. Some of thi probate material has been filmed, so I ordered the appraiser & inventory book from the LDS archives. Inventories, bills of sale v A-B 1826-1847 -- film no. 894946 Film of inventories end on or about p 245, in 1834, with William Neil's estate (or possibly the previous one). Then they resume in 1842 with John Shoff's estate on p 448, with the ubiquitous Thomas Peacock signing and witnessing everything. That's a gap of _200_ pages and _8_ years -- with what what I'm looking for square in the middle :^) The filming was done about 1971 I think, and the index filmed in the back of the book also seems to omit these pages (that is, it doesn't seem to index anything in the missing pages). I'm not sure when this index would've been done, but it's probably contemporary from the look of the writing. I haven't looked thru this exhaustively tho. What's the scoop?
Posted on: Guernsey Co. OH Queries Forum Reply Here: http://cgi.rootsweb.com/~genbbs/genbbs.cgi/USA/Oh/Guernsey/1312 Surname: Watkins, Buckingham, Markley ------------------------- Dear Della, I don't have any information about William Watkins born circa 1816... However, I am trying to locate a William Watkins born perhaps @ 1880, who may be the child of Wiliam and Rebecca Buckingham OR of William's brother Joseph. He in turn married a woman named Carrie Buckingham (odd coincidence?) and had at least one child, named Lois Watkins. Lois went on to marry a man with the last name Markley and they are recorded to have resided in New York state (?) and Maine. Does any of your information point to these individuals? Any info you have would be of great help! Thank you. Rachel
