I don't have information on a Susan BLAZER specifically, because she is not in my line that I am aware of. You don't give dates (always a good idea, along with locations, to help establish links), but the Peter BLAZER you mention could be the father of Philip BLAZER, who married into the CRANSTONs. I therefore recorded information about him and his parents that might be of use to you. If you want I can also provide more on Philip's descendants. Most of my information comes from the BLAZER Family Archives, which you should be able to obtain a copy of from the information below. Washington's father might be Thomas Harvey. Is anything more known about this Harvey family? Did they remain in Guernsey Co? There are several Carters in Guernsey Co in 1830: Philip Carter, in Oxford and/or Londonderry TWP. Owned property in both townships. I believe he's on the 1830 census. I am pretty sure I have also seen a court case for him about 1825 where he becomes a citizen (from Ireland). Also on the tax rolls. Levi Carter, in Winchester. Also on 1830 census and 1830 tax rolls (but not on 1831-2 tax rolls; I don't have tax rolls after that; Levi Carter reappears in a probate case in 1838). Levi Carter is from VA. I doubt he could have a daughter born in 1811 as his known marriage is in 1814. I don't know if there are any more. I'm confused about "Sarah married Joseph Taylor..." which Sarah Carter does this refer to? I am exploring some mystery Carter connections of my own, & I am real interested in a Sarah Carter born in VA about 1811. I have an Agnes and Nancy Carter (not necessarily related) who marry two Helm brothers. These two women were born about 1815. The name "Sarah" reappears among Agnes's children. Of course it is a very common name at this time.

    3. I have not communicated on the Eastern Ohio Rootsweb Bulletin Boards for a while so I am sending some information on my ancestors from that area in hopes I will find others that are interested in these surnames and more particularly in these people. Query for Belmont, Guernsey and Noble Counties, Ohio: Several of my ancestors lived, died and/or moved on (mostly to Richland/Jasper Counties, Illinois) in the late 1790's and through 1850's in these three eastern Ohio Counties. They include the following: BELMONT CO: PHILIPS, EVAN born abt 1760 (probably Wales); died abt Jan 1824 Belmont Co and his Wife JANE UNKNOWN died abt June 1825 Belmont Co. Main question is what are their ancestors and where were the born and married? BROTHERS, JOHN born before 1763 (Maryland/Pennsylvania?); died between 1843 and 1850 in Belmont Co. His wife was Mary Hedge of which I know almost nothing. MCWILLIAMS, GEORGE born abt 1764 in Scotland (Isle of Skye?); died ? in Guernsey Co and his wife MARGARET MCCOY born in Ireland; also died in Guernsey Co. Two of their daughters, Hannah and Elizabeth married Evan Philips' twin sons David Philips and Enoch Philips in Belmont Co. GUERNSEY COUNTY: PHILIPS, DAVID: Born 22 Oct, 1786 (probably Ohio Co, WV (Frontier Virginia then)); Died 1838 in Guernsey Co and his wife ELIZABETH MCWILLIAMS: Born 1794 (possibly Pennsylvania or Ohio); Died 1848 in Guernsey Co. Their son PHILIPS, EVAN: born abt 1821 in Guernsey Co; died Oct, 1877 in Richland Co, IL and his wife NANCY BROTHERS: born February 1826 in what is now Noble Co (Sarahsville); died Dec 1866 in Richland Co, IL. I have never been able to find their marriage information or Evan's birth date. DAVID AND ELIZABETH PHILIPS' daughter MARGARET PHILIPS: Born abt 1816 in Belmont or Guernsey Co; died unknown; married Nov, 1838 in Guernsey Co to EDWARD B CARSON; Born abt 1818 in Pennsylvania; died unknown. They also moved to Richland Co, IL about 1852, but I have not found them after 1860. I do not know who Edward's parents were. I suspect without proof that his mother was Mary A Carson a widow in the 1830 census who married Eli Baldwin about 1833 in Belmont Co. HARVEY, WASHINGTON; Born abt 1811 in NH; died unknown; married Feb, 1833 in Guernsey Co to Susan CARTER: Born abt 1811 in VA; died unknown. I do not know either of their parents. I suspect Sarah's mother was the widow Sarah Carter, the only Carter in Guernsey Co in 1830. Sarah married Joseph Taylor in Guernsey in 1831. Washington's father might be Thomas Harvey. GALLOWAY, SAMUEL and MARGARET JANE HARVEY married in Guernsey Co in 1857 and almost immediately moved to Jasper Co, IL. Their parents were Enoch Galloway SR and Ester Cole and Washington Harvey and Susan Carter. NOBLE COUNTY: BROTHERS, WILLIAM (AND HIS CHILDREN NANCY AND GUSTAVUS BROTHERS): Born Sept 1802 in Pa; died 1870-1880 in IL and his wife ELIZABETH MORRISON: Born Mar, 1805; died Jun 1893 in Anna, IL. The one from the Clermont area originated from Maryland. The Wharton's in eastern Ohio were from Pa. I'm looking for info on the eastern Whartons. Let me know what you have.

    1. [OHGUERNS] Re: Courthouse / Churches
    2. Hi Christy, I actually have the answer to your question because I had to find out the same thing myself. According to the nice helpful lady in the genealogy office, most preachers back then were circuit preachers who carried the records with them. So what you need to do (I haven't tried this yet but I plan on doing so soon) is to find out what denomination it was and contact that church's archives. She said if the church gives you problems then go to your local branch and maybe find a nice preacher to request them for you (I guess they can get them easier in some cases). I hope this helps--you'll have to let me know how it goes. Good Luck! 1. [OHGUERNS] Suggestions on how to look for Myrtel Wilson & Charles Cox
    2. Doug & Patti Ensor
    3. Look for Myrtel in the 1890 census. If she was fostered out, rather than adopted, she should be listed by her name, Myrtel Wilson, in the census. If she was adopted by the Cox family, she may be listed as Myrtel Cox or given another name. In the latter case, look at the Cox household to see if there is a daughter about the same age. DON'T assume that if there is a girl about the same age that it is your Myrtel, because they may have a daughter about the same age, but it is a possibility that you would want to check into further. Myrtel would not be listed as a head of household so don't be discouraged if you don't find her in an index. Rather she would be listed in someone else's household (probably Charles Cox's), just like employees and indentured servants were. Look in the 1890 census index for Charles Cox and the corresponding microfilm. If you know of any alternate spellings/forms of Cox, be sure to look for those too. If she is not in the 1890 census, try the 1900 census as she would be about 16 if born circa 1884. (Do you know at what age she married? I have seen marriages of young girls as early as 14 years old. She wouldn't be in the 1900 Cox household if she married before 1900.) If the Cox family moved after Myrtel joined the family, but stayed in OH, a census index would give you some other locations to search microfilms. If they moved out of Ohio, you are looking for that needle in a haystack. In this case, look for sites that the Cox neighbors or other relatives moved to; this will increase your odds of finding them. A tedious process with no promise of success. But if she is there, the time and effort will be worth it. Patti
