There is a couple of William Law's in the book one was 4 days child of Wm.and Sue Law, and one was 4 hrs. child of Wm. And Caraline Law. This is all I see in the death book with your names. If you know where they are buried or the township they lived in, I will look thru my cemetery listings. If you think any are buried here in Guernsey County. In Portrait and Biographical Records of Guernsey County 1895, it mentions a John G. Law. This is a later John but if you would like a copy of the page 511 let me know and I will send it. -----Original Message----- From: Nancy Alexander [mailto:[email protected]] Sent: Thursday, May 05, 2005 2:39 PM To: [email protected] Subject: [OHGUERNS] William and Sarah Law Have a question about probate court records. Try a death certificate for one of the children - that's how I found my GGGGGrandmother's maiden name - there was no other record anywhere that I could find. You may be able to get the clerk at the Vital Records office to check for you without having to order the certificates. Good luck! I welcome all corrections, additions and comments on the contents of this book. Bob Fuller Robert Fuller [email protected] Why Wait? Move to EarthLink.
I am looking for a death date and place for Ernest Barber, husband of Viola Maude Lawyer. He was born in 1891 in Cambridge (I think) and married Maude in 1912, also in Cambridge. Maude died young, in 1930, and left Ernest with two children, Dorothy and John. I do not think he re-married, but I'd appreciate any information anyone has. Thanks! Villate ><>

Bell, a respected citizen of this place, died very unexpectedly at his home about 12 o'clock Sabbath night. So far as is known Mr. Bell was in his usual health until about a half hour before his death, when he took hemorrhage of the lungs and being all alone he managed to arouse Dr. Lawrence who lives near by. The doctor hastened to his aid but before anything could be done or his children called in, he had passed away. Mr. Bell was about 65 years of age. He leaves three sons and one daughter to mourn his loss. Funeral services took place Tuesday afternoon at one o'clock conducted in the U. P. church by his pastor, W. R. McMunn. Interment in the U. P. cemetery. Cambridge Jeffersonian August 21, 1902 Mrs. Elizabeth J. Bell. The death of this beloved wife and mother took place at her home in Antrim on Thursday morning the 14th of August 1902. She had been gradually going down with the dread disease, consumption, for more than a year when the end came and she entered into reast and peace. Mrs. Bell was the beloved daughter of James and Sarah Ann (Downer) Gilmer. She was born on the 8th day of December, 1842, at the old Downer home near Antrim. Here she spent her early life and until she was married to Mr. William S. Bell, of Antrim, on the 10th day of October, 1867. To the union thus formed were born eleven children, six of whom preceded their mother to the long home. Those who remain are: Mrs. Ora Tuttle, wife of Mr. Henderson Tuttle, Postmaster and merchant of Antrim; Moses and George, married and living in Antrim; Miss Jennie and Charles, still at home. With these the bereaved husband and father mourn the departure of a loving wife and mother. Mrs. Bell made a profession of her faith in Christ as her Savior at the age of eighteen and was taken into the full membership of the United Presbyterian congregation of Antrim, O., then under the pastoral care of Rev. Mr. Lorimer. This was her church home during her entire life and of the congregation she was consistent and interested member and in the closing hours of her life she gave evidence of her faith. The funeral services were conducted by Rev. R. W. McBride, pastor of the Londonderry United Presbyterian congregation. He spoke from the words: "And he showed me that great city." Rev. 21:10 A large concourse of relatives and friends were at the service and followed the remains as they were laid to rest in the United Presbyterian cemetery, and all sympathized deeply with the bereaved husband and children.

Norma........................... Thank you for a reply to my posting. I am currently on vacation and have little time now to have contact with you but towards the end of May I will certainly appreciate receiving any information you may have about my ancestry. I'll be sure to contact you as soon as I am able. Thanks again......................... I kind of got started searching my ancestry by accident at a library in Dayton about a month ago. It has been exciting to learn what I have so far....................... kind of like solving a mystery! I am sure you know what I mean. Aug. 14, 1901 Freeport, Harrison Co., OH For those of you that do not know where BOND is located will find that it is midway betweem Fairview , Londonderry , Antrim and Sewellsville, in the fertile valley of Skullfork Creek, which derives its name from a suposed Indian skull found in early days on the farm now owned by C. W. BOND. An old log dwelling house now standing on the same farm was the first voting place in Londonderry township. At one of the elections a fight took place between Valentine HIBBS and another man, resulting in one of the participants having a finger bitten off and culminating in a suit for damages in our court of Common Pleas. The old road over which wheat and tobacco were in early days hauled to Baltimore, is still discernable on the McCOY farm now owned by Thomas BOND Sr. The postoffice first established on this farm by Smith RIDGEWAY, probably 16 years ago. It took its name from the BOND family which is legion here. The mail was first carried gratultously by the patrons of the office to and from Londonderry. Afterward for one week by a U. S. Mail carrier from Quaker City through Fariview via Bond to Londonderry ; after this by a carrier from Bond to Londonderry three times a week ; about six years ago daily mail was established from Bond via Skullfork postoffice to Londonderry. The postoffice in Bond was abandonded last March for want of a postmaster. We fear that our expected postmaster and storekeeper will not materialize. He needs encouragement to do so. ***

Don't have any information on the Longs of Quaker City, but I had ancestry there. Cambridge Library has a genealogy room and that is very helpful for all parts of Guernsey Co. Check census first since you know they were in Millwood Township. 1880 would be good for that area. Also, the cemetery in Quaker City is worth a visit. These are just suggestions. Good Luck. Carol
