There are lots of Moore families in Guernsey County. My family came from Spencer Twp, in the 1820s-1860s. Has any set out to define the different lines of Moores? My line is from David & Ellen Moore but that marriage is tentative. I believe that he came from Pennsylvania but many of the Moores of Guernsey did. She was born June 20, 1911 in Cambridge, the daughter of William and Hattie Mercer McManaway, and was a member of First United Methodist Church, Gray Ladies and Wing at Guernsey Memorial Hospital; American Legion and Veterans of Foreign Wars Auxiliaries. She was married to Dr. Gordon F. Lawyer, who died Dec. 14, 1964. Mrs. Lawyer leaves one son, William of Cincinnati; three sisters, Mrs. Ethel Gregory, Monroe, La., Mrs. Leota Henis, Ashville, N. C., and Mrs. Annabelle Haynes, Cambridge; five brothers George McManaway, Ashville, N. C., William, of Live Oaks, Fla., Lester of Toledo, Leroy of Greenville S.C., and John of Cambridge. Thomas and Rachel apparently moved to near Londonberry Township(?), Guernsey County, OH, date unknown but his son Abraham Jackson Burkhead (my line) was born in unknown location in Ohio circa 1831 who moved on to IA (1870 Census) then on to Cook County, TX where he died May 27, 1901. Spouse of Abraham Jackson Burkhead is Mary Ann Dutton daughter of Jacob Dutton and Rachel (Plowman) Dutton. She was born Belmont County, Ohio circa 1833. All else about her parentage unknown. Thanks.
