Before 1810, Guernsey was split between Belmont and Muskingum counties, mostly the latter. The location you describe was in Muskingum. So that is where you would likely find marriage records (Zanesville is the county seat). According to this chart: http://www.rootsweb.com/~ohgenweb/ohiovitalrecords.html Muskingum has marriage records from 1804. > I have not been able to find any Paschals at all in any of these three > counties in the early 1800s. Mary Ann was born Apr1787 in VA (now WV, > I'm sure) according to cemetery records (1785-1790 in census records). It's always possible that her familiy was still living in Virginia, and that might be where the marriage actually occurred. Mary Ann Paschal and James Murph(e)y married - reportedly in Guernsey Co OH in 1809. (In 1809 Guernsey Co was still part of Belmont Co.) Were marriage records kept that long ago? I have found that James Murphy bought/was granted land in 1815 in Guernsey Co (top center section - just east of present Hwy 77). About 1830, he moved to Hilliar Twp of Knox Co, where he remained until his death 11Apr1864. James was born 30May1785 in PA according to cemetery and census records. I have not been able to find any Paschals at all in any of these three counties in the early 1800s. Mary Ann was born Apr1787 in VA (now WV, I'm sure) according to cemetery records (1785-1790 in census records). She died 9Feb1869 in Knox Co OH. Children of James and Mary Ann included: Nicolas (b 1809), John (1812), Cornelius (1814), Nancy (b Jul1816 Guernsey Co OH; m 10May1845 William Beach), William (b 31Mar1818 Guernsey Co OH m Julia Ann Smith), Jane (m Mr. Green), Ellen (m Mr. Douglas), + three girls (of the girls with no birth dates, 3 were born 1820/25, 2 born 1825/30) Some of this information was found in Knox Co History books regarding two of their children, William (b 31Mar1818 Guernsey Co) and Nancy (Mrs. William Beach; b 1816 Guernsey Co); in census records; in cemetery records and anywhere else I could come up with possibilities. Any suggestions on where I might find more info on either James or Mary Ann would be most welcome since I'm at a loss as to where else to search. Thanks, Sharon Murphey Worthey

Although I haven't found hard proof on any of my research, it appears she had a sister Elizabeth, and her parents were Elza STILLIONS and Jane STEELE. I keep hitting road blocks when I try to research her family, including where she is buried. On and off over the last two years, I've searched many records and cemeteries trying to find her. I'm also having difficulty finding information on her husband, George. If you have any information that may help me find her, I would greatly appreciate it. My e-mail is [email protected] Sarah
Can someone tell me if the Noble Co. listing, like this one, is still working? I sent for some information yesterday but have never received the letter back like I do on this listing. Looking for a Dora KING, she first married a Edward Jackson PEPPER. They had two sons in that marriage, Harry Carson Pepper and Charles Jackson Pepper. Harry had a son by the name of Charles Keelie Pepper. When I was young, I can remember my mother talking about an Aunt Dora Pepper. My mothers name was Beulah Curtis. My great-grandmother was Eva King and her father was William King as far as I can find out. Would like to hear from anyone that has any information on the Kings, Hendersons and Curtis. I have most of the information on Curtis' though. Thanks, Betty W of Guernsey Co. Oh.
