Author: Carla <[email protected]> Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/rw/AWB.2ACE/2289.2 Message Board Post: Rhonda, I have found 2 entries for the marriage in the IGI marriage records index for Muskingum County. One is for Alexander Kirkpatrick and Susanna Styles on Feb. 2, 1810, and the other shows Alexander Kirkpatrick and Susanna Stires on Feb. 8, 1810. Appears to me that somehow the marriage was registered twice, though I don't know why the difference in dates. I'm related to the couple through their daughter, Sarah, who married Henry Shuman in Guernsey County on Dec. 2, 1836. An old Shuman history I have states that Sarah was born on Mar. 23, 1819. The info on Alexander is as follows: "The above named Alexander Kirkpatrick was born on July 4, 1785, possibly in the State of New Jersey. He died in Guernsey County, Ohio, January 24, 1849. He was a veteran of the war of 1812. He died in Guernsey County, Ohio, January 24, 1849. The father of Susan Stiers was also a veteran of the War of 1812. His name was Isaac Stiers. He died while bringing his family to Ohio sometime after the war, and was buried near Connelsville, Pa. Susan Stiers was born in PA, Oct, 19, 1794, and died in Guernsey County, OH, March 20, 1845." I have also seen info that says Isaac Stiers was Susan's brother, not her father, which makes sense since he was in the War of 1812 also. Hope this helps. Pls contact me and we can compare notes.
