Benjamin is the father of Joseph Clark whom you mention. He is also the father of Jacob Clark, my ancestor, born in 1796. I have lots of information on Jacob down to the present. Joseph married Elizabeth Albin; Jacob married Rhoda Chilcote. Have you tried to find more info on Jacob and Joseph and Benjamin in Greene County, PA, or do you have any more that you can share. My goal is to research this family back to Europe through Benjamin, Adam, and Daniel Clark. The part about Benjamin and them being from Greene Co., PA fits right into our oral family history which always said we were from western PA. Please email me. I would like to work with you on this research. Regards, Harold Clark clark525@insightbb.com Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list. Author: KURTL Surnames: Cowden, Roe Classification: queries Message Board URL: http://boards.rootsweb.com/localities.northam.usa.states.ohio.counties.guernsey/4368.2.1/mb.ashx Message Board Post: Divorce papers for my great grandfather, Dr. David L. Cowden (1867 -1940), and his second wife, Luella Roe (1880 - 1971). They married in 1928 and didn't stay married long, though I don't know what year the divorce was in. My great grandfather was a physician in Kimbolton and then Cambridge, and he served as Guernsey County Health Commissioner. He was a widower and Luella Roe was a widow with a couple of daughters. Family members introduced them, thinking it would be a good match, but it didn't work out. The family was embarrassed about a divorce (rare in those days) so I don't know much else about it. They are very, very modest with their fees compared to places like the health department with birth and death certificates. I looked up one from the thirties and they didn't find it at the probate office, so I had to go across the street where they sent many records as a depository and the clerk down there pulled up the actual papers they'd filed. Copies are available on request. I've looked up lawsuits and criminal court cases from even earlier. They're a gold mine. You should also be able to get the information in the newspapers of that day. They gave a lot more information out then than they do now, including grounds and who was the defendant or plaintiff. Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list. I am trying to find the father of Thomas E. Jones, born 1831-1832. He appeared in the 1850 Guernsey County Census living with the Samuel Gebhart family. His mother may have remarried Samuel and Thomas may be living with his new family. Does anyone know who the father of Thomas E. is? Thank you.
