Rev. David Winters, s/o Rev. Thomas Winters, was active in the organization or operation of many churches in the Miami Valley. John Edgar's book, Pioneer Life in Dayton & Vicinity; 1796 - 1840, says he was pastor of four churches for many years, including the First Reformed Church of Dayton. Also says he had been connected with 13 churches during his lifetime, had preached 8000 sermons, confirmed 2400, baptized 3000, married 5090 couples and attended 1300 funerals.
