    3. Hi Listers, Let me add my voice to that for '65,'75,'85 State censuses. I'd like to put more meat on the Glossinger bones, so to speak! My Great Grandfather John Glossinger, who immigrated to Ohio where he joined his sister Margaret Glossinger Rinck, and his brother Jacob Rinck in Xenia, a year or two before the Civil War began, served 4 years in the Union Army and incurred several wounds..His complete pension records from NARA have filled in quite a bit of info that I had never known before, especially through his wife Magdalena's deposition for a pension increase, after John died in 1897. I have NO idea when John arrived in America. Lena says 1860. One deposition from a close friend of his says John was there in 1858 or '59. I have "combed" the Germans to America CD #355, 1850-1874, looking for him under any possible spelling of Glossinger that I can come up with, with no luck. I've searched thru the appropriate volumes of the "Germans to America" series at our local public library. I've looked on my other immigration CDs as well, even tho they're not German. John apparently did not apply for citizenship as he was entitled to as a Veteran...there is no record that I have found so far. His date of emigration would have been stated there. Does anyone have any suggestions? My cousin and I plan to be in Xenia the last week of July to research our Glossinger roots. I just wish the Glossinger building (Saloon) were still standing. Does anyone know for sure where I can find a photo of it? Or of any of the buildings in the first two blocks of Main Street going east from Detroit. John and Jacob had a number of saloons and a restaurant in those two blocks For that matter, I wish the John Glossinger (the younger) Cultural Center hadn't fallen victim to the terrible tornado of 1974. My cousin attended the dedication in 1964. It is my understanding that ALL of the artifacts/records that had been on display and/or stored in the house were lost. Is this correct? Thanks for listening to my ramblings...I seldom write to lists, so I'm making up for it all at once.
