I completely understand Townships as I born in Clark Co., lived in Greene Co. twice and raised in Logan County. I live in Michigan and they have townships. I also understand early newspapers. My Grandad and his brother were printers by trade and both were Editors and printers of their own newspapers. My Grandad had some neat stuff in the paper and would it never get in any paper today. That is how I know my Dad got a horse hit by a train and killed but he was okay. Grandad ended the article with this warning to all young men to be careful when out sowing their wild oats.
