Although Greene County, Ohio began keeping records of birth and death in 1869, many did not get recorded. There are many I have been looking for and have not found. I have been forced to revert to the dates on tombstones which are many times not correct but it at least gives you an idea.
I would be willing to check dates on tombstones if I had a clue where he was after 1860. I will check the 1860 census and hopeful I can fine how many and who was born by then, know where he was born and etc. I only know E.B.Martin and found him on the 1860 census at Ancestry.com. I do know he married Rachael Vail, not where, and had a daughter Mary E. I know that in the early years they could register the birth but it wasn't mandatory. I was so lucky in Clark Co. to find so many birth records. Tootsie At home births often didn't get registered even later years.
