Message text written byAnn Trimmer >Can anyone tell me what Gold Star Mother or Father means? What does TC 5 mean after Donald?< During WWII parents who had a son/daughter in the armed services hung a pennant [if memory serves me correctly it was about 9x12 inchs] in their front window. I think it containted a blue star in the middle of a white background and a red border. If the child was killed, then they replaced that pennant with another that had a gold star in the center. The TC probably refers to his military rank. I don't recall what the TC stood for, but a TS stood for a Technical Sergeant and the 5 would have been his rating. Again, from memory it went buck private, private, corporal, sergeant and master sergeant. A TS [note, not a TC]5 would have been higher than a plain sergeant and lower than a master sergeant. Since I was only a kid during the war, I hope those whose memory is better than mine will make corrections as necessary. Jim Faulkner
