Green County Census Look-up. Can some one please look up Martin R. Delany and/or his wife Kathryn? I'm trying to locate the address of their home. Wilberforce says that without an address they can't locate a picture of the home which was destroyed in the 1974 storm. They should appear in the Green County, Xenia census from the years 1870-1894 when Kathryn died. Thanks Betteye
I'm told,Holy Trinity Church is physically a part of the Payne Theological Cemetery at Wilberforce does anyone have the cemetery listing for this cemetery? thanks Betteye
As several of you are searching in New Jersey, you should know that Ancestry.com has put up NJ marriages. They have added counties to this database and it is free for 10 days. (actually all of Ancestry is free right now) Ann

> >Ellen, > > I just read your message on the Greene County Message board.I'm glad to find someone connected to my familytree, this tree doesn't have many branches! > My 3rd great grandgather was George GREINER born in 1759 in Cumru,Berks,PA.George had a brother Jacob who was born abt. 1762,he married Magdalena Olsen on April 06,1897 in Schwartzwald Church,Berks County,PA. Jacob died March 15,1792 while serving in the Marines onboard the ship South Carolina. I have a copy of his probate papers, his father Andrew was the administrator of Jacobs estate. > The Whetzel family must not have wanted to be found,I haven't been able to find anything on Catherines parents. I did find in the Mormon website that she was related to Martin WHETZEL but I don't know how. I figure he was an uncle but which brother would be her father,I haven't even started there yet. I know where she is buried I have pictures of her headstone but I know almost nothing about her. > > I have conflicting stories on when they moved to Ohio. I have the paper work Julie Overton did about George and the first house in Osborn but I also have several Illinois census that show their youngest daughter Jane born June 14,1809 in Virginia. I also have Jane's obituary it also states she was born in Virginia.I have seen other census that show John,Jacob and Catherine all being born in Virginia.George might have built that first house but I think it was later than 1805! > > George GREINER's sister Catherine WHITEMAN and her husband Christian also moved to Ohio.Their oldest child Sarah was born in Greene County,Ohio in 1792. In their father Andrew's will it mentions the two children who had moved West, Andrew died May 15,1813. George and Catherine were married in September 1797 so sometime between then and 1809 they ended up in Ohio. > > If you have any information you think I would be interested in please contact me,my email address is [email protected] I'm in Upper Michigan, I have made several trips to Fairborn, Ohio.I have been trying to get a marker put on George GREINERS grave, he is a Revolutionary War veteran.I have contacted the DAR several times,I did get a letter and copy of a form sent in to get a marker but have heard nothing for awhile. > > Donna ----------------------------------------------------- Click here for Free Video!! http://www.gohip.com/freevideo/
I would like to add my Greiner family also to this discussion since I do think the name Greiner is somewhat unusual.. maybe someone can fill in a bit. I have a Jake Jacob) Greiner born in 1891 probably in CA, married a Viola Thompson who is a descendant of the Brelsford family of Greene Co... anyway they had 6 children, gerald, Jacob, Robert, Milo, Wesley and Alice ( in case someone recognizes these names). He worked for the Railroad and ended up in NM. If anyone has any info on this Jacob greiner I would love to have it.. Thanks, Barbara Rentenbach

This isn't my direct Folkerth line, but I have received some information from Barbara Carico in Sacramento that shows Patience as the daughter of Christopher and an unknown first wife. Looks like Patience may have had a twin, Mary, both being born abt 1832. The mother died shortly after. DICK

THE YELLOWSPRINGS REVIEW THURSDAY - AUGUST 12, 1897 YELLOWSPRINGS, OHIO GREENE COUNTY STEWART REUNION The annual reunion of the STEWART family took place Thursday of this week at the beautiful country home of Mr. D.W. STEWART, near Springfield. The day was an ideal one for a picnic, delightfully cool and pleasant, and the place with its smooth lawns, swings, rustic seats, hammocks and shade trees, one of the most pleasant in the country. The STEWART family represent to a marked degree, the intelligent, progressive and prosperious element of Clark and adjoining counties. Prominent members of the family were present from Dayton, Springfield, and Xenia. Among those present were Mrs. Nancy STEWART, 89 years of age, her daughter, Miss Hattie, Miss WHITE, Miss Mattie MELLINGER, Lawyer E.E. STEWART and Mr. P.M. STEWART, all of Springfield. Rev. J.R. HUGHES, Presbyterian Minister of Dayton, Judge STEWART, Mr. Phin TORRENCE, Mrs. LESOURD, son and daughter, and Mr. DAVIDSON of Xenia. Other prominent persons present were -- Mrs. Oscar STEWART and family, Mr. Thomas E. STEWART of Springfield, made some very interesting and appropiate remarks, He finished by giving a description of his travels in Europe and Palestine. Rev. HUGHES is a gentlemen of good memory and having traveled and read a great deal was able to contribute much to the enjoyability of the occasion. Thank you very much to the person who sent the information about molecular genealogy. It would be to be part of such a project. Genetics is an intriguing field.
