    2. Hi, Penny...... I would be happy to check this out for you if you can be patient. The Greene County Library Greene Room for genealogy research is closed the entire month of January for renovation. They have a lot of info re: Clark County and I could check to see if that cemetery is listed among the cemeteries in Clark County. With the Winter months upon us, I do not think I will be going to Springfield any time soon to do research although I need to. I will wait until Spring for that. Let me know if you want me to try and check this out for you. I will do what I can. Helen

    3. Helen, Just wondering if you know of a good source for doing research for Ross Township. I am trying to look for the history of a cemetery located acutally in Clark County - but it's right on the line of Greene Twp., Clark County and Ross Twp., Greene County. The name is Bloxum Cemetery. It's located just west of the Selma Methodist Church Cemetery on Selma Pike (the next road west of there ... can't recall the road) but it is lined up directly to the west of that church's cemetery. The stones are mostly all gone - though a few are still standing and there are a few newer stones toward the back area of the cemetery. I have possible ancestors buried there ... but want to find out when and how that cemetery got it's start. I have looked for a cemetery record for it but so far haven't found one ... I admit I need a trip to Springfield... Just wondering... Later, Penny Thomas \\\_/// [email protected] \\ ~ ~ // Columbus, Ohio ( @ @ ) .................................................o00o..... 3. Alice, Grape Grove is in extreme east central Greene Co. My grandmother, Emma Gordon, who married George Alfred Miller, was born there. My Millers came from eastern Greene Co. Isabella Miller was the daughter of Johnson Miller and Eleanor Dobbins. I suspect that "all" the Millers in the east half of Greene Co. are related, but am having a very hard time working my direct line out, but I am getting close to locating them in PA. When I do, maybe I can tie the other families together. I suspect my line is Scottish and I believe a Johnson Miller line of Greene Co. is also. I would be most interested in communicating with all Greene Co. Miller researchers. Dave Miller -----Original Message----- From: Alice A. 3. Message text written byAnn Trimmer >Can anyone tell me what Gold Star Mother or Father means? What does TC 5 mean after Donald?< During WWII parents who had a son/daughter in the armed services hung a pennant [if memory serves me correctly it was about 9x12 inchs] in their front window. I think it containted a blue star in the middle of a white background and a red border. If the child was killed, then they replaced that pennant with another that had a gold star in the center. The TC probably refers to his military rank. I don't recall what the TC stood for, but a TS stood for a Technical Sergeant and the 5 would have been his rating. Again, from memory it went buck private, private, corporal, sergeant and master sergeant. A TS [note, not a TC]5 would have been higher than a plain sergeant and lower than a master sergeant. Since I was only a kid during the war, I hope those whose memory is better than mine will make corrections as necessary. Jim Faulkner

    2. Steve, I DO have a Swigert connection, but it's with the Borchers/Boerger side of the family and is rather recent. Donald SWIGERT , b Dec. 19, 1942 married Grace Margaret BOERGER (b. July 20, 1945) on Nov. 28, 1964. They have three children, Christa Ann (b Aug. 16, 1965), Lisa (b. Marach 1, 1967, married Oct. 27, 1990 to James Brasee), and Erika Christine (b. June 1, 1968). 1. Re: [OHGREENE-L] Greene County Births Partial S' 1893 - 1895
    2. Sorry, got called away. The Slates are on the Borchers side of the family. My husband's mother was a Donley from Auglaize County, but she died in childbirth with my husband. His Dad remarried a Borchers, and that is the family he knew well. We have the Borchers family traced back to 1519 in Twistringen, Germany. It's been exciting finding them. Just tried some luck and looked ink the White Pages on the internet. Found 26 Borchers living in Twistringen and wrote letters. Got an answer from the town historian, with maps, baptismal records, tax records from the Earl of Hoya ( our ancestor was a heurling on his estate) and added 9 generations to the tree. WOW! The historian asked for $30 for his trouble. What a find! I visited Ohio last summer to see the Borchers in Ft. Loramie, and the Donleys in Yellow Springs and Minster. What an adventure it was! By the way, my husband died in 1984 and his parents in 1989 and 1994, so have no immediate family to help in the search. Happy hunting. Anita

    2. Thanks for your help. Don't know of any Creagers on our tree in Greene County. Lots of Creagers in Springfield, Dayton and Cincinnati. Maybe we'll get a connection though. I don't have a lot on the Creager side yet. It's been a dead end before Springfield, where it appears they settled about 1880. At least a whole generation was born there between 1881-1889, with no sources before that. The Borchers family was (and still is) from Greene county. That's my husband's mother's side. Gotta go. 3. Ann and list- A Gold Star parent was one who lost a child in the war...in other words, it looks like parents Freed and Orville are Gold Star parents because son Donald died in WWII (and is buried in Luxemburg). Gold Star parents were entitled to put the symbol of a Gold Star in their window to indicate their loss. I presume TC5 might be some kind of military classification.
