This from the WILSON thread: > >I have three children listed - a Jacob (Am I correct in assuming that this >is the Jacob that married Mary Friz?) and two daughters. One married Andrew >Reed and the other married George Townsley. I am wondering if this Andrew is any relation to my John I. Reed b. 18 Apr 1855 in Greene County. From other relatives we have "heard" that John's parents names were David and Susan but we have no other info. This John Reed m Mary Isabella Levalley 12 Oct 1876 also in Greene County. There seem to be lots of Wilsons in Greene and Clark County. One family was that of Samuel W. Wilson and Mary Louisa Russell. Both Wilson and Russell families were prominent Presbyterians in Greene County. Samuel Wilson was a pastor in Springfield and had something to do with the Presbyterian seminary in Xenia at that time. His son Gilbert Livingstone Wilson attended that seminary after graduating from Wittenberg College in Springfield, which was Lutheran, but convenient. Gilbert Wilson went to to become a prominent anthropologist after further studies at Princeton Theo. Seminary (Bachelor of Divinity in1902) and University of Minnesota Ph.D. in anthropology 1916. He spent 13 summers with working with Hidatsa Indians of ND as Summer staff, American Museum of Natural History. The rest of the year he was a Professor at Macalester College in MN. Gilbert Wilson and wife Ada Myers of Springfield lived in Mandan & Langdon, ND; Moorhead, Minneapolis, Stillwater, St. Paul in MN. The Russells were a large family who lived at Cedarville. Joshua L. Russell, D.D. was from Clifton, OH, graduated from Wittenberg in 1864. He also went on to graduate from Princeton Seminary in 1867 and became a Presbyterian Clergyman. He was the son Rev Moses RUSSELL and Abigail Foster NEWELL his 3rd wife. Joshua married a WILSON, Mary S. and lived at Middletown & Dayton, OH; Philadelphia & Altoona, PA; Los Angeles, CA; Princeton, NJ; Colwyn, PA. His father, Rev. Moses Russell, 4 wives, lived & are buried at Clifton, OH. Joshua had incapacitating breakdown 1892-5. "He then assumed the pastorate of the Derby Borough near Philadelphia which he held until his death." Wife died 06 Jan 1929

Betsy, I have seen the Judy name a lot. They lived near my ancestors in Greene Co. Where in KY did your Wilsons live? I do have a little on Michael. The following is from my notes in my genealogy database - Source Robinson's History of Greene Co. OH res Bath Twp. Soldier in War of 1812. J. Shingledecker, captain 4 Feb. 1814 Inv. by Andrew Reed, James Johnston and Abraham Drust. Recpt. - Valentine Wilson and Isaac Wilson. Buyers include: Popenoe, Woodward, Gowdy, Smith, Hamilton, Collier, Alexander, Hamell, Turner, John Judy:guardian. I have three children listed - a Jacob (Am I correct in assuming that this is the Jacob that married Mary Friz?) and two daughters. One married Andrew Reed and the other married George Townsley. Please be sure an confirm that the two Jacobs are the same so I can combine them. The followinf are my notes from my search of Wilson wills - Michael Wilson Will can be found on LDS film 0535139 Will Records Vol E & F 1822-1826, Greene Co., OH My sketchy notes are: Dec. 12, 1816-1824, Wilson, Michael (heirs). Recpt - Valentine Wilson, Isaac Wilson. Heirs are: George Townsley, Andrew Reed, Jacob Wilson. Also surnames mentioned - Popenoe, Woodward, Gowdy, Smith, Hamilton Collier, Alexander, Hamell, Turner, John Judy, guardian. David, The name of Perry is not one that I 've seen but I can't ever discount anything. Jacob Wilson and family came to Ohio from Viriginia according to all that I've seen, by way of Kentucky. They were among the first to live in Harmony Township, Clark Co. The Wilson Chapel Cemetery reading has been completed by my 16 year old son and myself, and will hopefully be on-line at the Clark County website sometime this winter. Jacob had a number of children, and his wife's name was Mary FRITZ according to work by long-time WILSON researcher, Roger WILSON, late of Springfield. Jacob and Mary had the following children: 1. Jacob , 2. John, 3. Valentine, 4. Michael, 5. William, 6. James, 7. Eleanor, 8. Mary Elizabeth, 9. Isaac, 10. Elizabeth , 11. Jeremiah, 12. Daniel. My husband's line comes through son, Michael, who married Temperance JUDY, part of the large Judy (Tschudy/ Tschudi) family. They had three sons, the youngest being another Michael before Michael, Sr. died from illness after being in the War of 1812. This Michael Jr. married into the HENRY family and founded another large family of his own---13 children. Their son James was my husband's great-grandfather. From what I've seen in Springfield and Clark County research, the children of Jacob WILSON who stayed in Greene Co. were William who married Catherine HEFFLEY. and Eleanor who married John BRADLEY,and a third---Elizabeth who married Charles HEFFLEY. Betsy Earley
John I don't have these particular Wilsons, but by chance I DO have Lucinda A Levalley b. 1818 d by 1850 as the daughter of JJ Levalley, who was my 4gt grandfather through his son William H. Levalley and his granddaughter Mary Isabelle Levalley, who married into the Reed family. Thus Lucinda is my gt-gt-gt-aunt. I don't have any info on her other than this, though, so anything you have about her descendants would be appreciated. Christie, I don't think this is the right family. The WILSON family that I am searching for all came from the Virginias in the late 1700s- early 1800s, through Kentucky, and then into Greene Co. Many went into the part of Greene Co. that later became Clark Co. and then into Madison Co. Betsy, I don't know if I am related. I descend from Perry Wilson (1780-1831) and Rachel Thomas. They were married in Fayette Co., KY in 1804 and moved to Greene Co., OH about 1824. I can't tie to any other Wilson line in Greene Co., despite the fact that many Wilsons came from that area in KY and moved to Greene Co. One of these Wilsons is reputed to be the first white settler in Greene Co. I feel that there probably is a relationship to these early Wilsons, but can't work out the details yet. I have been gathering all the Wilson information in Greene Co.
