Is anyone researching this name in Greene Co.? I'm trying to figure out where in Greene Co. a Fritz Metzenger(spelling varied) was living in 1840-1847. I have him living on a Mr. Bates farm, and i'm trying to figure out what Bates he was living with. This would of been the father of my 3X,Gr Grandmother Bathsheba Bates. Thanks, Eric Baumgardner Cleveland, Ohio

Looking for some help. The bottom line is that there is a lost Maxwell family bible going back to the 1740s. Walter Carson Maxwell b. 1817 Harrison County Ohio inherited the family bible from his uncle Walter Maxwell. His youngest child was Walter Sherman Maxwell b. 1865 who married Ella. In the 1910 Census, they are shown in Osborn, Greene County Ohio living with David Baer. They have a son Robert R. Maxwell and a daughter Martha Jean Maxwell. It appears that Martha Jean Maxwell did have the bible at one time. Neither she nor her brother apparently married. Robert R. d. 1964 and Martha Jean in 1989 (both living in Indiana) and were both buried at Fairborn Cemetery, Greene County Ohio. Walter Sherman Maxwell most probably had relatives in Greene County Ohio and the children (Robert and Martha Jean) were obviously raised there. We know that when Martha Jean went into a nursing home in Indiana, she did not have the Bible. My thoughts are that she may have given it to a relative in Greene County Ohio. I also assume that Walter Sherman Maxwell and his wife Ella are buried somewhere in Greene County Ohio. If anyone has information or leads to follow, I would greatly appreciate your help. It seems to me that there is a Byer/Baer m. maxwell connection somewhere but darn if I can find it now. Thanks JOsette Maxwell Boone NC
Wayne: Thank you very much for the directions to Cost Cemetery. I really appreciate it! Beth
test, disregard
To Cost Cemetery- From I-675 turn west toard five Points. After passing Arlin Place on the left (Arlington Vil. Apts.) look for Kiddie Launch Day Care. It sits back a little off the street at 328 W. Dayton-Yellow Springs Road. Drive into the parking lot at the day care center. there is a fenced playground on the south-east corner of the property. You should see a dirt road leading south into a grove of trees. This leads to the cemetery but I advise to park the car and walk back. From SR444 or Kauffman Ave. turn right onto W. DYS Rd. About three blocks up the hill there is a church on the s.e corner of DYS & Superior Avenue. The day care center is just past the church on the right. There used to be an access from the corner of Grove St. and Lowell Dr. but new apartments have been built there. The old cemetery and it's broken stones were cleaned up and a single stone with the known names are on it. I have photos from the early 1970s. The obelisk marking the graves of John and Mary Cost were originally outside the iron fence at the north-west corner of the cemetery. Good Luck. Wayne Seibert
Cost cemetery is in south Fairborn at the end of Grove Street but it is only accessible from West Dayton-Yellow Springs Road. Contact me at [email protected] and I will give you more details. Wayne
