    2. Rev. David Winters, s/o Rev. Thomas Winters, was active in the organization or operation of many churches in the Miami Valley. John Edgar's book, Pioneer Life in Dayton & Vicinity; 1796 - 1840, says he was pastor of four churches for many years, including the First Reformed Church of Dayton. Also says he had been connected with 13 churches during his lifetime, had preached 8000 sermons, confirmed 2400, baptized 3000, married 5090 couples and attended 1300 funerals. He commonly traveled 2000 to 3000 miles each year on his rounds. DICK FOLKERTH Dallas

    1. [OHGREENE-L] OVCH Records / OS&S Home Xenia
    2. Jan Guiliano
    3. The records for OVCH were shipped to the Ohio Department of Education. The Greene County Room of the Library has some very old records on file, but I've not seen much there after 1900. If you need very old records for ancestors, email me at [email protected] and I'd be happy to check for you. Again, the ones I've seen there are before 1900. To get more current records contact: Attn: Inventory Control Specialist Ohio Department of Education Document Management Services Ground Floor 65 South Front Street Columbus, OH 43215-4183 (614) 728-8775 fax: (614) 752-3956 Hope this helps some of you! 2. You have it reversed. It is still in Montgomery Co. It must have one time been in Greene but by 1850, I think the lines are as of today for the counties. At least these maps that I have seem that way. I will look around. Linda Swaney Sabin

    1. Re: [OHGREENE-L] "old photo album" ??
    2. No.....Unfortunately only a few of the pictures are marked. Some are of tin construction, and others are heavy cardboard with picture pasted to them. I have good reason to believe the album was either my 2nd great grandmothers Martha Ellen Gerlaugh D/O Jacob (b.1810 Greene County) and Anna (Miller)(b.? Virginia) Gerlaugh or her daughter Hattie (b.1870's?) (Baumgardner) Gross. Ellen (b.1850) was from Beavercreek. Also Hattie's grandmother was from Bath?(Bathsheba Bates b.1820) I believe her father was Henry Bates and Sarah Kugler/Koogler, but still need to verify this.... Hopefully through church records. 2. Rev. David Winters married people in both counties. We have kin married by him in both Montgomery County and Greene County. He might have been a traveling minister going from one church in the area to another. Lucille

    2. The reason I'm wondering, is that I found a old photo album, and in it was a obit that listed the guy as oldest resident of Harshman and married in same town by Rev.David Winters at German Reformed Church same town. I believe this might be the same church that my ancestors attended, but they are listed as being married in Montgomery County, so this very well might be the Church I've been searching for if Harshman was at one time(1848) in Montgomery County. Infirmary, where my g grandfather died. Get to Ohio Genealogical Society and click around until you find the Dunbar Library and an e-mail address for requests. Linda Swaney Sabin
