Concerning cemetery on grounds of Wright Patterson. I know that where the "old" commisary was located (& it also used to be the Air Force Museum over 30 years ago) near that entrance into the base was a cemetery - not real big. I don't think it is part of the base (in other words I don't think you have to go through the checkpoint to get to it). My mother's baby sister used to be buried there (she died in 1927). I think it was within a year after her death (I could be wrong!) a poor family lost children in a fire or some tragedy & couldn't afford any plots so my grandparents gave up my aunt's plot & had her exhumed & moved to another cemetery where they are all buried now. My grandfather used to be a volunteer fire chief of Osborn (before it merged with Fairfield). Well, that is a question! The town of Fairfield was combined with Osborn into Fairborn in the mid 1950's. The flood of 1913 really made them move Osborn over so it nudged Fairfield and they just combined. As far as cemeteries! If time were not a problem I would look at the Library for you. You interest me with the 1802 time. I am researching both Badgleys and Downeys who appear in Greene County in that time frame. Downeys from MD via Scott Co. Ky. and the Badgleys from NJ, I think. Downeys went to Silvercreek, Beavercreek, and Ross Twp and Badgley to Ross. Bath had later Downeys. The Badgleys, I think ended up in Clark Co. or Madison Co. After the 1850 census they are gone from Greene Co. Are you coming from far? The Greene Room at the Xenia Library would have the cemetery records and direction to the different ones. They probably have Clark Co. also. It is a good library. Did you see any Badgleys in that History? Good luck and you probably will hear from others more knowledgeable than I am. Linda Swaney Sabin
>From a "History of Madison County, Ohio" book, I received this information about my husband's gggg grandfather, Jacob WILSON, father of 12 or 13 children who were early pioneers in Clark and Madison County. " In the year 1802, after having lived twelve years in Kentucky, he came to Ohio and settled on the headwaters of Beaver creek, Bath township, and county of Greene, near the present site of the village of Fairfield." My question is this: If Jacob remained in that location, where would he have been buried?? Where is the location of the original town of Fairfield today, and is there a cemetery still in existence that would have graves from the early 1800s. Someone mentioned to me a cemetery on the lands of Wright-Patterson Air Force Base, near one of the runways. Is this the correct location?? Sounds like a fun place to visit for Memorial Day! Any help is greatly appreciated. Betsy Earley

I am new to this list...I am researching the Shook line. My gggrandfather....Eli shook was born in Greene Cty., about 1818. I do not know who his parents were. He married Sarah Jane McAllister (McCollister) Nov. 17, 1842 in Greene Cty., also. I do not know any of Eli's family except his children to now. I believe the only child of their 11 or 12 born in Greene Cty. was Martha Ann Shook. Seven more children were born in Darke Cty., and the last two in Iowa. Can any one help here? You don't give dates. The Shook who owned the construction Co. here in Dayton at one time lived in Preble. They purchased a house in town from from Grandmother's estate when she died in 1944 or so. Mom said that we were connected somehow so they were not new to the area. Try Preble Co.

Hello Sherre, yes in fact Stephanie and I have corresponded a bit awhile back but she doesn't know which of the Haughey parents my Julian would belong to either..she was trying to place her with mother: Haughey and Father: surname ELLIS..but Juliann's name wouldn't be HAUGHEY then, but ELLIS..I do have marriage and death source for Julian and that she is buried in the HUSSEY cemetery and was in fact, married by Christopher Hussey, J. P., but I've not found a source for her birth at this time and was hoping you might be able to help. Thank you, Marie Cook ~May you have food and raiment, a soft pillow for your head. Larry says that it was a list of all the classes of students and he thinks that coming and going were listed. I have a friend at church who help compile that book and was a house mother over there. I will ask her. Ask me again tomorrow - it is too early to call her now. Linda Swaney Sabin

Do you know if First Reformed Church of Dayton is the same Church as First Reformed Church in Harshman? According to the website for the Greenie County Records Center and Archives, these are among the records at their facility (opened 1997) at 140 E. Main St., Xenia, phone 937-562-5366. Jane
All the records were not shipped. My husband who ran track at Lewisburg, Preble Co., in 1955 & 56, looked up the Boykin family in the OS&S Home book just a month ago. The Boykin who was such a good track star was a senior when my husband was a freshman, but he has never forgotten him. They had oodles of kids who were sports stars and from the OS&S home.
