I will piggy back on the Quaker request and ask how the Pleasant Grove Cemetery on Hyde Rd. at corner of West Enon Rd. got (Mennonite) written after it in the record book at the Greene County Room? I tried to find a Mennonite settlement in their history books but only found one which didn't last long in this area of Ohio. There are still active Quakers churches here in Greene Co.
YOU FOLKS FROM GREEN CO ARE SOMETHIN ELSE! So there, ask for an inch and take a mile............How can I find folks who came to Greene Co in the early 1800's who were Quakers? I hope I am not asking too much. There was two early Blue families that lived in Fountain Co. Indiana. William Blue b. 1801 Va. and a Richard Blue b. 1800 Va. They both had large families and lived there many generations. As a matter of fact there are still some living there. Even though they were born in Va. it was known they came from Ohio originally. Vickie
Reba, I noticed your interest in the BLUE family and it brought to mind the tombstone inscriptions I have been transcribing for the Pretty Prairie Cemetery in Battle Ground, Tippecanoe Co., Indiana. Among them was a Daniel Blue from Hampshire Co., Va., as well as a few others. These are probably members of James W. Blue's family. Hope you find them helpful. If you would like more information on this family, a good place to write is the Tippecanoe Co. historical library. They have WPA indexes, marriage records beginning in 1826, court books, wills and probate files, family files, census records, military, cemetery, etc. You can write them at: TIPCOA, 1001 South Street, Lafayette, IN 47901 or e-mail them at: [email protected] Good luck! Pretty Prairie Cemetery: BLUE~ Daniel, d. April 1, 1845, aged 59y, 8m, 6d - a native of Hampshire Co., VA. Elizabeth, March 18, 1821 - March 28, 1842, wife of Michael G., d. That information was submitted because of the link to Clark/Green Counties. I do not believe that Adina is part of that family. She is the list mistress and transcribes the bios and you would certainly find her email there. Jo
Jo, How do I find the person who submitted the James Blue item. The one who came from Va may have married an Elizabeth Hendricks and I have been looking for them for a long...............time. I wanted you all to know that I have found the lost! Harvey Downey and Henrietta Badgley, after being married in Madison Co. in 1869 moved in with Ellen and Wm. McIntosh, and farmed, in Beavercreek Twp. Greene Co. Ellen Dorman Downey McIntosh, 62, was listed in the 1870 Ohio Census. As I looked at the microfilm was I surprised to find Harvey and Henrietta living there and listed as McIntosh! Of course I knew better. Then there was Henrietta's brother (? - need proof yet) Granville Badgley, whose obit gives his grave as in Mt. Zion cemetery but it isn't! He was only 13. And then there was another missing child Sarah Mason, age 15, who was also a descendant of the original John Downey. And then Wm. McIntosh, 72. I have had such a good day at the Greene Room at Greene County Library. Thank you for all your inquiries from Madison and Greene. Now, I must find where they went next. Linda Swaney Sabin
Yes, the Beavercreek Chamber of Commerce gave me a number for you. 1-937-426-7275 and 427-3408. It is called Alpha House and on Alpha Road and the Bike path to everywhere. Nice place although I have not been in it. Very historic! Linda Swaney Sabin
The sign is still up as of three weeks ago. Linda Swaney Sabin
Yes, the one in Alpha is still operating, as is the Galloway House on Galloway St. in Xenia, near the bike path.
Great would anyone have any info on these places? Steve
Can anybody tell me if the Bed and Breakfast in Alpha is still in business? I'm planning a trip to Greene Co. and was wondering if the place was still there. Thanks, Steve
This site has been updated. http://freepages.genealogy.rootsweb.com/~gen2/index.htm Thank you, Jo

The Coy farm was on the corner of Shakertown & Grange Hall (I think or maybe Shakertown & Fairfield) in Beavercreek. I went to school with the Coy children & they used to be my neighbors growing up. I'm guessing the cemetery is near the farm. Wendy
